Hello everyone Glad to be here.

I discovered this forum recently and love the vise stories. I have a 6in. China vise that i bought new over 20 years ago and still going strong. Reading posts here has inspired me to look for an older American vise to restore. I have ran an ad in our local penny shopper paper and on CL to try and find an old vise.

Nothing has really turned up close by but did get an offer on this one for 25.00. Its actually too far too with gas prices and smaller than what i want. Missing jaw is a definite turn off to me. What is it? And whats this old green vise i saw on a distant CL ad for 100.00. The green vise kinda looks Wilton.

As far as Craigslist goes there are hardly and vises in a 100 mile radius and when you do find one it has a crazy "collectible" price like the one in this ad.

Actually, that rusty vise looks like a Wilton, probably not worth any kind of drive in that condition. The green vise almost looks like a Columbian, although that little hood over the screw in front might be a give away to another brand. That one looks to be in good shape, and if it has no issues, is well worth $100. and a drive to pickup.

I agree that the greenish vise is a Yost. The stamped handle ends are to me trademark modern Yost.

That green vise just caught my attention but is 250 miles away. I will keep an ad running locally it doesnt cost a dime in the shopper paper and i have gotten a lot of great deals over the years from it. Craigslist has always been a waste of time here especially if you put a "wanted" ad on there. Most times you wont get any responses at all and if you do they want 10 times what its worth. They think if your looking to buy then you will pay any amout because yu want it.

The green vise looks like a Yost or Columbian vise but hidden behind it is a Wilton Bullet Vise. I can see its red dynamic jaw poking out from behind the green guy.

See if they want to sell both for a good price. Both would be great to have and hopefully they don't want "collector" prices for it like they do in Atlanta.:bounce:

Yeah the rusty one is a wilton tradesman and the big blue vise is for sure yost and if you end up buying the blue vise I think a picture of the big red wilton by it would be awesome if possible :).
