A few years back I took advantage of the plummeting prices of the Craftsman Nextec line. My first Nextec purchase was the drill and right angle impact driver set for $50. Later my local Sears outlet had the drill, circular saw, sander, and flashlight set for a similar price. I picked that up and gave my father the spare drill as I had already given him an impact driver when those were on clearance for like $30. I never thought of these as great tools just a great value at clearance prices.
Fast forward to now. My impact driver got damaged and I want another one. Sears no longer sells them so I turn to eBay. People are asking $150 for used impact drivers!? The more traditional pistol design Nextec impact drivers are going for more like $50-100 but the right angle ones are going for over $100 in beat up condition. Is there something special about these Nextec things I'm missing?
BTW, rather than spending that much on a discontinued line I bought the 18V Ridgid drill, impact driver set Home Depot had for $120. A lot more power and a "free" drill upgrade.
