I picked this up at a sale and thought it was a Proto because of the handle and then saw the stamp. I read that P&C was owned by Plomb at one time and this appears to be pre Proto. Looks like Proto/Plomb liked the green handle idea and kept it going for many years under the Proto line.

I don't think so. I'm 90% sure that's from after the acquisition.

And now I'm 100% sure the hammer is post-Proto. I checked and the 1324 model number existed in old Proto catalogues well before the 1941 P&C acquisition.

Pretty sure the last 2 digits are the weight. At least that's how it is on the Proto ballpeins I have.
