I picked this up at a sale and thought it was a Proto because of the handle and then saw the stamp. I read that P&C was owned by Plomb at one time and this appears to be pre Proto. Looks like Proto/Plomb liked the green handle idea and kept it going for many years under the Proto line.

Always liked the P&C tools as they remind me of my grandfather who worked there in the late 30's. Cool find!

And now I'm 100% sure the hammer is post-Proto. I checked and the 1324 model number existed in old Proto catalogues well before the 1941 P&C acquisition.

Thanks for the info on it. Any idea who first came up with the green handle known to so many?
