No doubt he's got more than $10K truck price in there.

Considerably doubt an individual is going to throw down $10K to get started.

I live near Fresno. If someone needs me to look at it for them I can.
I can also help pick it up for/with you

I have always loved that box. If the rest of the box is as full as the pictures, I'd say it could be a screaming deal for somebody with the cash.

Would be a GREAT buy for someone getting into the trade and plans to be there. No way one could buy all that retail for $10000, most likely I bet one could get that for $8500 still would be a good deal with the boxes/tools.

Deals that are to good to be true usually are. If the rest of the box looks like those few drawers then theres way more then $25,000 there. He would be better off selling everything individually.

I'm going to look at it today. I'll let you guys know what I find. An older gentleman answered the phone, so that might be the reason for the deal.

Actually, he will take $9k firm. He says the drawers are full. He was part owner with a master Jaguar tech who sold his interest when health problems arose. Now, he's in a hurry to sell because he wants to buy his brother's motorcycle which he apparently is selling out of necessity.

If he really wants it he will come down more If needed to sell.

I'm confused. Is anyone acting like this isn't already very fairly priced? Why would any ***** spend this kind of money in debt to buy the hottest new box when you can get $35k+ of immaculate tools and box for cash? (No debt)

It's a good deal yes depending on what way you look at it. I would pay $5k-6k tops depending on what else is in it. If you are looking to become a mechanic and use the tools and have that much cash, yes decent deal. If looking to resell individually, not so much. If we had pictures of the rest of the drawers then we could do more talking.

Yeah it's fair but very few people have 10k in cash to spare. So I would use that to my advantage. Personally I'd spend about $7500 on this set up.

What about if you aren't just starting out? Sure, you may already have a lot of tools, but you could buy this set to replace what you already have and sell the excess.

Are you guys accounting for California prices? Four of the world's most wealthy metropolitan areas are within a half days drive of Fresno. Prices here are consistently higher than the Midwest.

That appears to be a great deal. The internet will bring out some unrealistic low prices people think the product is worth.

Most of the replies I'm reading here are pretty understandable and lucid. If it's that great of a deal and there's that much excess liquidity in his area then he should have no problem selling it. Turning wrenches is not what I do for a living so it doesn't become a deal for me until the price is low enough that it becomes an opportunity to flip, in which case I am still buying the current owner's problems. I've had clients who are in that line of work, though, and their mean cash flow wouldn't usually accommodate a $10K layout unless it would quickly affect the bottom line. Good luck to him.

Earnhardt badging aside, that model is a great box and there are some nice tools in the few pics that are posted. It is listed at 10k, been confirmed that he will take 9k. The guy is selling this so he can buy a motorcycle, that right there SCREAMS that you can wave less cash and get it.

If it was such a great deal, why is it not sold?

Not saying it's not a nice setup but there's a reason it's still for sale...

Can you pull $10 grand out of your ***? I make a nice living, have a respectable bank account and love that Earnhardt box, but I couldn't blow that kinda money. I'm sure there are few others like that.

As an professional oilman from Bakersfield, I can agree with this statement.

I'm going to take a look at this set, and see if I can make a deal.

...I went to take a look at it. The deal is legit. The guy is a head engineer and won't be working on anything ever again. The other guy used to work at Haron Jaguar. Pictures of all the drawers forthcoming.

That's exactly what I'm getting at. Not many hard working, blue collar guys that are into wrenching have the free cash to buy something like that. He would have a much faster (and profitable) sale, albeit more time consuming, parting it out or separating into lots.

He says that he also has a 3/4" socket set and several and pullers and miscellaneous tools that didn't fit in the box but would be included in the sale. They were in a different part of the facility and I had to get home. I already had spent over an hour there.

Deffinatly a deal. Lots of money there. Not many people have $10,000 to pull out of their a$$. But if your starting out you would be ahead of the game going and getting a loan from your bank.

I didn't get pictures of the insides of the kits, but if anyone has any questions about what was in them, I'd be happy to answer. I looked at nearly every tool that was easy to get to. 95% of it were truck brands, mostly Snap On. Most of the kits were complete. He said that his friend was meticulous about servicing his tools, so all the impact/air stuff should work perfectly. He didn't loan his tools to anybody. The box is about 7.5/10 condition. He's replacing some of the slides and handles before it sells. The struts are bad, but I can't remember if he said he was replacing those as well, or just that they are bad. Nice guy. I had no bad vibes at all. The box was in the maintenance workshop of a large manufacturing facility:

As mentioned, while it may be worth the price, especially when based on replacement value. The market audience is very, very slim. Especially on craigslist this time of year.

Which one is it? Faster or More time consuming?

 Why don't you go offer him $100.

And this is not a guy who buys a Snap-on box for show then fills it up with Craftsman tools. He's got the real deal in there.
