Still have not revceived my 9 pcs. Ergo set. Grrrr!!!!!!

These deals are only for the patient.... Set it and forget it.... That's how I'm doing these. When they get here they will be a surprise and I may have even forgotten about ordering them.

Ordered two of each, looks like there are five different sets on sale. I am going to pay many of these forward to my brother and to my friends who otherwise would buy a junk file at the local box store.

This is a ridiculously good deal, akin to "buy one file at regular price, get 8 free."

I wonder if Cooper is clearing out a large inventory of Nicholson? It seems to me that the low prices are coming from the Cooper end; most of these file sets look like special-order items with a long lead time, so it's not as though Amazon has a bunch of these stagnating in a warehouse.

Would someone on the board be kind enough to order and send me these?
I can't order them from here

Not sure if I've befriended enough people to get the confidence...
Thanks for thinking about it though....

I was at Lowes today looking at Nicholson files. If these are the real deal from Amazon, and I have no reason to believe otherwise, then this is one heck of a deal. One is due today, one tomorrow and the last two are shipping soon.

I ordered the basic 3 sets, got the two sets without handles today. Passed my visual inspection with no issues on the file portion, some of the tangs look a bit funky, but nothing I would expect to effect the function.

This is hammers and pliers all over again, used to be happy with one or two, and now I don't think a dozen is enough.

I also don't have a clue under what circumstances the different files should be used, other than the obvious round and flat.

And where files go in a toolbox? Maybe I need another toolbox?

Got my files today. No issues. They are genuine Nicholson and they are very nice. That price was just ridiculous.

If you need files and can wait a month for delivery then catch this deal the next time it comes around

What's it say on the front of the ergo set? Different languages of the same thing or something helpful regarding usage?

I consider files to be one of the most important tools a person can have. Mine are given dedicated space. My older, worn, beater files, I lay in with other flat tools - usually cold chisels. All others are kept separate and protected. Mine also tend to get organized by the scale of work they are used for and are in three or four different drawers.

Same here, the cheapies live with the chisels etc in my Mech box, the Nicolsons live in pampered comfort in tool rolls in one of the Tinbashing boxes :)

Will have to have a sort out tho as right now they are all in one tool roll, soon to be joined by 5 other rolls...

Just got my second set today and thought I'd post up the breakdown of my sets so far in case anyone is interested. Maybe we can figure out a trend. Part of my reply is copied from my reply in the Hot Deal thread. I ordered these sets on 3-20-11:

8 piece machinist set $8.95
9 piece ergo handle set $9.53
9 piece maintenance set $9.24

On 4-7-11 I received the 9 piece maintenance set. Of the 9 pieces, 5 were usa made. As Grogan14 mentioned, the foreign made ones had poor finishing of the edges and end cuts that aren't square. The foreign ones were also lacking discoloration on the tangs, with the exception of the 6" slim taper from Mexico. The breakdown for mine was as follows if anyone is interested:

10" Mill ******* - USA
10" Flat Smooth - USA
10" Mill ******* - USA
10" Half Round ******* - Brazil
10" Round ******* - Brazil
8" Flat Smooth - USA
8" Half Round ******* - Brazil
8" Four-N-Hand - Columbia
6" Slim Taper - Mexico

Today 4-13-11 I received my second set, the 8 Piece Machinist File Kit no22025N. Of the kit, 3 of the files and the file cleaner were USA made. The rest were a mix of Mexico and Brazil. As before, the foreign made ones had poor finishing of the edges and end cuts that aren't square. The foreign ones were also lacking discoloration on the tangs, with the exception of the Mexico made file. The breakdown was as follows:

10" Flat ******* - USA
10" Mill ******* - USA
10" Flat Smooth - USA
10" Half Round ******* - Brazil
10" Square ******* - Brazil
10" Round ******* - Brazil
7" Slim Taper - Mexico
File Cleaner - USA

So as of right now, Out of the 16 files I've received thus far, just under half (7) are USA made. Here's the breakdown:

USA - 7
Mexico - 2
Brazil - 6
Columbia - 1

This is all way more information than most of you care about, but I thought I'd post it for the 1% or so that may be interested. I'm kind interested as to whether you could piece together a mostly or all USA set from ordering multiple sets. I'll try to remember to update my post when my final set arrives.

I got in on the original deal very early. I've since bought a few additional sets in the latest round. I'm hoping that maybe which exact files are US-made may vary some between orders, but I doubt that'll be the case.

Would you consider selling a set to a guy in the snow up here

OK , I guess I missed the 9 piece handled ones, but I got 2 of the 5 piece handled ones arrived today. They were $7.00 and some change each.
As others have stated, a mix, but 3 of them are USA and the 10" Half Round ******* is made in Brazil, and the 6" Slim Taper is made in Mexico.
Hell, for the price, I think they are just fine!
Also got the thread file set, think it was around $10.00.
It is USA made.
Now just have to learn to use the thread files.

Here is the thread files,

And here is the 5 piece handled file set.

Thanks,
Tony

Edit
Mine were supposed to get here from April 22, 2011 - May 11, 2011
But I got them on April 14th.

Got my maintenance set today that I ordered last Friday during round 2 of the deal.

All of the flat files are US made, the others are Mexico/Brazil/Colombia.

Even the non-USA one seem to be pretty good quality, we'll see how they hold up with use.

Hopefully they cancel the orders of all the greedy bastards who ordered many, then reward those modest people who saved some for others....:rocker:

I suspect that they may just be running out of product to send to people so they are canceling orders.

Has anyone actually used their files yet? How they look, and where they are made is nice, but not why I buy a file.
