Pretty cool looking. I've seen something kinda similar. I'm use to using Bridgeport mills. Use manual and cnc lathes and mills at work. Would love to have a manual lathe and mill to use at home sometime. Love making stuff on them. I have made a bunch of different parts for race cars on them.

Just scooped a few of these up from my scrap guy. They are 110/220v reversible 1/12hp gear motors. 13/15 rpm, they were used on commercial hot laminator's. I plan to try to use one on a bead roller, anyone have ideas for the others?

Gear drive for a DP table lift

I have a DC motor for my DP lift, would one of these work for your table lift?

damn! I wish i could get projects done that fast!

Well done, buddy!

Thanks LORDDiESEL, most of this takes time but some projects go fast. The hardest part is breaking something down and not having all the replacement parts on hand to put it back together. Then I gotta bag and tag everything and pick project I can run through while I wait for parts on the other. Find you something small and paint it, you'll feel better every time you look at it and you'll find more things starting to get done.

Thanks, but I have the motor already.

And ditto on the start small and work up. And definitely bag and tag, (and take pics) if you have to wait for parts!

 Thanks rasman, do not hesitate to ask questions if you don't understand. Knowledge is power, there are lots of smart people on this board that can answer any question you may have. Since I'm not that smart, I'll give you basic idea. A potentiometer adjusts speed on DC motors without much change in torque. :3gears:

Cool, if you see anything else you can use, let me know. I have some heavy lead screws from steelcase office chairs that could be used for a screw type lift.

This thread is amazing, great work, bro!

Thanks Duct Tape Man, I'm glad you enjoy it and appreciate your kind words!

So, I came upon this thread looking for info on rewiring a Craftsman motor and I just have to say, DUDE... your work is AWESOME  you've got a good imagination and skills. I'm blown away from the workbench to the lathe to the grinder (BTW, I'm stealing the paint scheme for that). Outlaw is a good dude, he's helped me several times also. As far as the fan goes, this is what I did to mine. Mounted it under the cabinet, flush mounted 2 switches (1 for fan, 1 for light) and done.

I know Rock, it's been hot as hell in the shop. I have about two weeks of spring and two weeks of fall here..

Super thanks Softail!! Feel free to mix the colors up, you don't have to do stock colors to look good!

Here is a X-Slide table I picked up a while back and restored last week.

Thanks guys! Some of you may remember the Sun ac cabinet I got at auction a while back. After getting it processed(taken apart and sorted), I found that the 110v motor was a good fit for a replacement on a 3ph sander I got last year. I had separated the sander from stand and was trying to sell the stand on ebay for a while, glad it didn't sell, now I have an almost complete machine. :willy_nil I still need the 12" steel backing plate with three screw holes around the center, if anyone knows where one is. :dunno:

I ran some of that free Red Oak through the planer today before the dark clouds rolled in. Still trying to decide what to do with it, thinking a ~1.5" thick butcher block top for a bench.

Nice work i love it. Would you be willing to discuss on your metal painting techniques? Do you spray paint, coat it, brush paint etc? Either way thanks.

Thanks for stopping in guys!

Most small things are rattle canned, I use a cheap HF hvlp for the larger items and always use Rustoleum Professional paint. If I take it to bare metal, I use an Epoxy Primer, otherwise I just scuff real good and paint.

Thanks that really helps. When you rattle can, how many layers do you do?

Usually one light coat, followed by several heavy coats. The main thing is chasing holidays or overspray. Holidays are spots that you missed or didn't get enough paint for consistent coverage and overspray can cause a dry flat look to an already painted surface.

I picked up this Craftsman 150 DP the other day and I'm working on renewing it slowly.

I could see dirt daubers had moved in but this is :shocking: :eyecrazy:

Then I sanded the pole and handles with 60, 120, 240, 600 and 1000 grit. I did the pole in my lathe and the handles in the DP, like I have seen others here do.

Then I did a couple other parts before crashing last night.

Gotta order some bearings and make/find a few missing parts but I hope to have her going soon!!

Nice! I need to polish up my handles and knobs on my 150. The paint is original and has just enough patina that I'm having a hard time considering it for a resto.
