imagine how much you would get done without Craigslist or GJ, but i think that's what keeps our blood pumping to do this.

There was a lot of bits, guide bars and hold downs, and an extra fence, I will be selling this to fund more projects.
Here was a project I whipped up on the lathe for a fellow member in trade of a vise. It's a stop nut for a Craftsman 150 drill press.

PK came out great. It is motivating me to finish up wiring on my Cman motor so I can get it reassembled and move on to my Delta DP. I hate wiring. 
Thanks Girl, I don't mind the wiring part, I just wish I understood it better. I can't seem to wrap my head around AC wiring as much as DC, I was a car stereo/alarm guy for many years and could do just about anything with 12v and a few relays.

Had a busy week, multi tasking like a mofo with projects broke down everywhere.
Here is a RM fan I picked up at auction last month.
Then I painted up some loose organizer drawers and decorated one with the perfect ad from 1947. It's a Kaiser/Frasier combo car ad so it worked out with one on each side, info on ends.
I even put cork on the bottom to prevent scratching surfaces.
and this was the gold 3/4 hp motor I got with the vises at auction with the fans.

If you frequent the garage sale thread, you may have noticed the lathe I picked up a couple weeks back. I got it primarily for the stand but I may make a few bucks off the deal as well once I sell the lathe.
Well, turned out it had the pole mounts for a 6" jointer that I got to repurpose too. I used one on the single pole for my belt/disc sander mount.
Used the other jointer mount plus the one that came on the single pole stand(had a 4" jointer rigged on originally) to make a base for my upcoming "multi-tool" project along with oak hardwood butcher block that I scavenged from a scrap piano. Had to whip up two brackets, one for the wood on the sander and one for the motor on the multi tool stand.

Runs good, tracks easily. I will be switching out the 1/2hp motor for the larger 3/4hp once I go to paint the stand.

Thank You. Persistence pays off, you would not believe the time I spend though. I have a list of keywords I search REALLY often and I try to pass on anything that I can't make money on or at least break even. Meaning, I see a tool I want, I try to bundle it with something I can flip so I get my money back on the items I keep. I have built my garage equipment up substantially and only have time invested, basically. Start you a list and wait for deals!

No secret, my list changes a lil but some words stay around, this is not all but you get the idea.
Craftsman, Craftsmen, Atlas, Lathe, Shaper, Milling Machine, Grinder, Buffer, Machinist, Band Saw, Bandsaw, Drill Press, Drillpress, Metal Cabinets, Vise, Anvil, Blacksmith, Miller, Wilton, Palmgren etc.
I stay on CL, I mean stay on it. I have at least one page on my computer open to it constantly and a couple apps on my phone so I can search anytime, anywhere. Watch your news paper classifieds, free advertisers and get to know a scrap guy. Check out your local state and school board auctions, small town consignment stores and private auctions.
Whatever interests you, write it down and keep searching, you will find that the longer the list, the easier it is to find things cheap. If you are dead set on a certain machine, start looking for deals on accessories and things for it as well, not just the machine. Your list grows, you find more things cheap, be careful though, it's a slippery slope

Don't forget to search spelling variations as well. I found my Kennedy bottom roller by searching "vice" instead of "vise" on CL. It just happened to have a 4" Athol bolted to it.

Nine: very nice job on making that stand work for your sanders.
I also have a page open for Craigs all the time because even if i am not buying i want to know what things are selling for. of course i always tell my wife i'll know what i'm looking for when i find it if she asks and she is ok with that.
i have several storage units and a shop and i think Nine forgot to add that he also has a small warehouse besides his well organized shop. that is the slippery slope I think he was mentioning, but if you don't have something to sell, trade or work on what else would you be doing?

Some I keep, some I flip on ebay, CL, garage sale or to friends, neighbors and associates. I have also dropped some things off at consignment auctions and sold at a local flea market type sale recently. 
The Atlas twins, no identical as you can see but still both beautiful in their own ways
It was a sunny day so I brought the mill out for it's first bath too. It cleaned up so well, I think I will just roll with it as-is for now.

Actually, I forgot all about it. Could you send me the file and I print it on a sheet of vinyl, or does it require a special printer? I am getting ready to do some water transfer labels soon, maybe I could do one in a water transfer? :thinking:
Just met a cool cat from New Orleans from CL, I saw this OEM Rockwell motor listed with pulley and had to have it for my restos. The motor pulley will go on the bench model to complete it and the motor and table will go on the floor model to complete it. I will probably use the production lift table on my Atlas.

Nine: are you living in New Orleans or is it a hike to get their for you? nice to know when a plan comes together with a couple missing parts and sounds like a one stop shopping to make that happen.

all i can say is you do some awesome work i have not even looked thru all the stuff you have put on here yet but everything i have looked at is top notch work
after looking at these pics has encouraged me to strip the old baby blue paint off from my 12x24 sebastian lathe that is in awesome shape with crappy paint i think i am gonna re-do it

New Orleans was a 3hr round trip but well worth it for the parts/price and new connect, just got lucky he was parting out this drill press at the same time I decided to refurb this one. The guy has two machines he wants restored, once he gets replacements and he has friends in to old machines as well. Could turn out more beneficial.
No resto website yet, I have this thread and one at my garage sale website(link in sig) but definitely no videos. It's hard enough for me to remember to take before/during pics much less live action

Nine, I've got three already printed on transfer paper ready to go. Send me your address and I'll send one your way. Or PM me for other options. They can be tricky to put on, but if you've done water slide before, you should be able to do it in one try. (It took me two) And I haven't touched water slide in 20 years.
IIRC, you couldn't read your model number, correct? This was the 1/3hp I did. I think is a circa 1965. I have a few different year models with basically the same frame. The biggest difference in this frame style is the Labels physical size and verbiage, the center band, and the switch. My '58 uses the same frame but the features above are all different.

After cleaning my belt sander and stand up, I decided that a $3.96 restoration was in order so I wire cupped everything visible and hit it with a can of Rustoleum Charcoal to finish off.
Hard to tell from the pics but it looks like a million dollars standing next to it
I'm also going to try my hand at some plastic emblem casting/reproduction so if anyone has any personal experience, chime in! This plaster of paris did not work(my fault for messing with it before it dried) so tomorrow I am off to pick up a silicone/plastic resin kit.

Hey finally somewhere my skills might be useful! You'll defiantly want a silicone mold for your emblem. I'm not sure what the quality of the stuff you plan on picking up will be, but hopefully its good. Unfortunately, to get parts without air bubbles is not a cheap process. Ideally you would have a pressure pot, and a vacuum chamber. They are a must for clarity in transparent parts, should you run across any.
If you decide to get serious about it, check out Freeman and Hapco. They both sell quality rigid and flexible urethane's as well as mold making supplies and equipment.
Heres a reflector i poured a while back. After many attempts, i was finally able to get it right. The part you see is taken right from the mold, no polishing. Quality silicone picks up an astonishing amount of detail.

The Delta drill press is coming along nicely so I decided to tackle the pole finally. Also found some higher quality precision instrument bearings to replace the standard old machine bearings so I may have this thing back together sooner than expected. Stay Tuned!

Nine: what did you use to clean that DP piece with on your metal lathe? Then do you wax or linseed oil or?
By the way you might check the knife forums to see what they use and recommend for belts for your awesome Baldor if you need some.

I was using Johnsons paste wax but a guy I met from CL gave me a can of FLUID FILM and I have been using that on all my bare metal ever since. I was wondering about the best belts to use, may have to check them out. The lamp is one of my most prized possession's right now, I call her "precious"...
