nines: it still looked awesome. do you have another metal lathe and do you make some parts or chip some metal with it?

same here the pictures didn't show up on your last post so maybe download them when you are up and about again later today. maybe your Photobucket account is doing something on their end?

cheers

NINES: YIKES that's why i started downloading pictures via the paperclip instead of Photobucket. i loved Photobucket for years and would have gladly paid their $20 per year fee, but it was free. when they started changing it so i couldn't use it then they wanted money too so i don't think I've used my PB account in a year or two.

good luck

Yeah, I have the originals on my phone or camera, then I have a file on my home computer with them plus the FTP app on my phone automatically stores one on my web space. I was just worried I would have to link to new addresses or lose pictures in my previous posts.

Got the carpet finished so I put all the clips on the doors, kick panels and quarter panels, then installed the speakers and added pull tabs to the two storage compartments. I also tackled the under dash vanity panel. I picked the kick panel lights and dome light from the junkyard to add some lighting. The wheel was wrapped earlier in the build, I still need to make a shift boot and trim ring for it.

Outstanding! I used to do a little interior work when I was young and for the guys that don't understand, it's hard work. The different positions the body makes while installing is amazing, there's no way I could bend like that anymore. Nice work nines.

Thanks Softtail, the customer has no idea what kind of work is involved, I had to re-engineer everything he "thought" he had prepped and fabricate everything else. It's been a circus but it's coming to an end shortly. I still need to re-do the driver door panel(my fault) and fabricate the a-pillar trim and windshield trim, then finish wrapping the console and I should be close to done for now. He already wants to add the under trunk lid and a trunk "shelf" after the wedding, picture shoot and Cruising The Coast hot rod car show in Oct.

I was just telling my girl how much my back and *** ached from this job, I can't tell you how many times I have sat on a seat stud and bruised my *** while working on the carpet and under dash panel, not to mention all the positions I've been bent in over the past few weeks.

Thanks again man, I appreciate the post.

The work looks great, it is a shame the customer picked red, but that is a personal problem for me. Red makes me angry. I had a red car once and had to sell it, I kept staring at the hood while driving. I have the same issue with white sneakers, I keep looking at them and end up walking into something.

How long did it take total?

Thanks guys! Strouty, I don't care much for red either, I only have one red shirt and it's been hanging in the closet for over a decade without wearing it. Only had one red vehicle too and it was a turd but there is something about this black car and red interior that I really like. I think if it were mine, I would have gone with red as well.

As for how long, that's anyone's guess but I've got quite a few hours invested in it.

I'm very impressed. Not that you probably give a hoot one way or the other. But awesome job. I'd consider hiring you to do a job for me.

Nines: are you finished with the red interior or just phase 1 to give you a break for a few weeks? before you send the car down the road can you take a few pictures in the daylight of the exterior and interior. you turned a ok car into a showpiece.

nice work especially considering your crappy weather this summer.

cheers

It's raining right now Drives, this weather *****...Only good thing is the temp is bearable...

This is phase one, he wants to make some changes to the trunk access panel so he can store his tent when going to shows and add a vanity panel to the bottom of the trunk lid, floor mats and panels to hide the seat brackets after the wedding/photo shoot.

Here is a major blunder to keep the thread real. After struggling with the linkages on the doors for longer than I care to share, I got excited when I figured it out and wrapped the door to see how it would turn out, I never even noticed the sanding marks around the flames until I had the vinyl on it and it was too late... Well, I'm re-doing the door now...

You can see the sand marks clearly in this pic. This was RIGHT after wrapping it, I was so frustrated I had to leave it for last to re-cover it

Definitely a work of art. They should be very happy with it for sure.

Thanks Strouty! They have been by about once a week to check progress and so far so good!

Dang nice work there Nine.

That's one to be proud of for sure!

Thanks Riven! I'm super critical so while I like it, there are things that I could have done better and may re-do when we go to phase two, depends what the customer likes.

Looks good! What do you have for upholstery equipment?

That means a lot coming from a fellow upholsterer, thanks Slodat! My main machine is an old Singer 16-288, it's my workhorse though I do have a Consew 226-R1 for backup. Other than that, cheap standard air tools like staplers, die grinders, angle sanders etc. Nice Milwaukee fuel drill/impact set for cordless and mostly Craftsman hand tools. I'm still jealous of your shop !!

I'm very impressed. Not that you probably give a hoot one way or the other. But awesome job. I'd consider hiring you to do a job for me.

Thanks DLC, a guy needs reassuring every once and a while ;)

I should have paid more attention to this thread. nine, I had no idea you were this talented. That is some very impressive and quality work. My truck needs a seat upholstery job and I wish you lived closer!

I am trying to see that as a grey interior or maybe blue. Regardless of the color, that is awesome! Thanks for sharing, especially the goof up, makes the rest of us feel a bit more human.
