Nine, maybe keep a eye out for a tankless or point of use water heater?

Maybe something like this? http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=107112146&KPID=24637273&cid=CAPLA:G:Shopping_-_Catch_All_-_DT&pla=pla_24637273&k_clickid=aa4d03d1-e051-400b-aefd-5048453ea8c1

Also a suggestion: Get another plastic tub for in the "storage compartment" So when it leaks (because its inevitable..), it's not filling the drawers below? I do that under every sink, if only to buy me time before water damage results...

You can still use the tub for storage of cleaners and the like since most everything is in plastic these days.

Eye wash center would be smart. I needed to wash my eye out the other night from accidentally rubbing penetrant into it.

Outlaw, I've been watching for a small point of use or tankless since I got this shop. I had a Titan N120 at my other shop that ran two sinks, a washing machine and shower effortlessly. I did pick this tankless up from Craigslist but was way too big for my needs, it requires (3) double pole 40a breakers! :shocking: my buddy is setting up an apartment inside a warehouse so I passed it on to him. If I can't find a cheap used one, I'll grab another Titan, that thing was perfect.
I also want to put a handle on the door where the key went to be able to close the cabinet area when not needed. There will also be a shelf inside that I planned to put cleaners etc but a tote or tray with cleaners sounds better, thanks!

We have natural gas here, even run a pipe out on the patio for the BBQ but I haven't run it out to the shop yet. I'd do ng but probably not propane for the small amount of usage.

Here is the sink working, I need to clean up the area and paint or hang wall board there but you get the idea.

I failed to mention that there was a unit maybe not that particular one that hooked up to a standard 20lb propane tank. You wouldn't need to bury a gas line out the the shop. I got the idea off Pinterest with all these people converting vans and other vehicles to RVs.

Cleaned up the wall, the rest is stains.

PP, the 1x4 runs the entire length behind the sink so I have a small shelf for the Dawn bottles on each side.

Thanks guys, on to the next one!

Very neat Idea and execution.

BTW thanks for the links to the VFD and DRO I think I am going to order some for them for the new mill if I get it.

Yeah, not the best place for a sink and subpanel but that's where it was when I got here and I've gotten used to it. I have the cover for the panel I will put on once I run the last few circuits.

Thanks Outlaw, my dad was a plumber for many years so it's probably instilled in me. :D

Yes PP, never know who may drop by needing to wash their hands.

Thanks Thumper and you're welcome for the links. It sure saved me some money going that route.

I also wondered about your name BB, awesome you have a Lightning!

Thanks for dropping in guys, I'm getting ready for a garage sale at Mercs tomorrow so I gotta scrounge up some **** to try selling.

You didn't miss out on anything except Merc making $2,500 off of women's shoes he picked up from the curb a few nights earlier. :lol_hitti

Are you sure you want to out Merc for picking women up off the street and selling their shoes ?
Merc will be blaming you when the Feds start digging up his back yard.

I found a small metal enclosure in my junk pile and will use it to hold the main power, potentiometer, original forward/reverse switch and an emergency off button. I used the mounting holes from the original f/r switch to mount the enclosure. The screws that hold it on had to go in before the f/r switch so the switch is not installed in this pic.

For the VFD, I bought a 12x12x6 enclosure and mounted the vfd inside. I also have a large dpdt relay for the main power mounted in there. There is room left for future upgrades, I may do a home brew power X feed at some point. The enclosure is mounted where the original main fuse disconnect box was using the same hardware. I will have a couple 120v outlets with constant power for the DRO and a work light integrated into the enclosure as well. Gotta pick up some wire for the control box later and I'll try to get it wired up tonight. I remote mounted the VFD control panel and partial face plate on the side of the enclosure and put scrap drawer pulls on there as bumper guards. I also had to lengthen the flat cable from the circuit board to the control panel on the side, I used an old computer hard drive cable and stripped off a row of 10 wires long enough to reach.

Since you're using parts from the scrap pile and castoffs from the dusty corners of the shop to build this thing, does it now qualify as a Rat-Mill ? Are pinstripes and fuzzy dice in it's future ? Perhaps a raccoon tail antenna ?

Thanks PP, you'd probably enjoy digging through my drawers, I let Merc a while back but he doesn't seem interested in rusty old grab handles. :lol_hitti

Duker, it's all good, she's been converted to an automatic and I've only made one test pass on her. After I get everything mocked up, I may pull her around to the body shop and put a Maaco paint job on her before I run her hard. [emoji3]

Ole Slewfoot, are you insinuating that I will be electrocuted while wiring the mill and need a grab handle to fight the electrical current? :lol_hitti

Jake, It may end up a Resto-Rat-Mill if it goes to paint. I may just get it running and drive it til the tires fall off. I did that with my truck except when the tire fell off, I had it towed home and I fixed it. [emoji3]

I figured since my mill is only a 1hp, I'd soup it up some. The handle is good for what, like 25% gain? If I add racing stripes it could bring me up to the 1.5hp range without having to upgrade my internals. [emoji3] :3gears:

Edit, I forgot about the VFD, that's gotta be good for a half a hp there, I should be right around 2hp when I'm done. :lol_hitti

I'm more of a twin turbo guy, these would spool up nicely!

Thanks Dan! If I keep this up she'll need wheelie bars!:D

Wired up and programming complete, test run went well once I figured out the display changes to the potentiometer frequency readout and went into analog mode. I restarted it three times before I realized that it was properly programmed and all I had to do was turn the forward switch on. I had to reverse two wires to get it running the right direction but it's done. Thanks to the guys in the VFD thread for all the help too!

The Tetris is strong in that picture... love the fan and "filter?" in front. Got a link for that filter? Never seen one like that.

I agree with a Nitros bottle... with a few stainless braided hoses... it would be sooo cool. Altho the twin fans would also add some "speed" if you could get them spinning fast enough to make a "turbo" whine...

I'm stacked to the gills over here, luckily the drawbar on the M Head pushes the collet out the bottom and does not need to be pulled up. I could spin the motor if I need to tilt left for more clearance or pull the mill out from under the rack if it gets serious.

The filter is a universal aftermarket filter I've had for 15 yrs or so, look how yellow that package is. [emoji3]they can be found in the fast and furious section of your local auto part store or cheap on eBay.
