Thanks Larry, I think I'm going to have to make a spring pin instead though to retain the back gear lever tension like the factory lever. Gotta find the right scrap materials to know how it'll come together.

This should be an interesting week for the Craftsman fans in here. I'm going to try to knock out a few restos, refurbs and if I have time, a little light project.

Took a load of machines to my son, instant Craftsman workshop! He has a 10x12 shed in his yard we filled up with tools today. I gave him all my Craftsman pedestal tools, the band saw, sander, table saw, shaper, planer, jointer, drill press, two block grinders on stands, a couple tool boxes, **** load of tools, the vise I did for him a while back in black and blue, a tanker desk and this chair I covered in his favorite colors. We need to run electric to the shed but the pole is a straight 40' shot. The bed of the truck was full of the small things, extra motors, drill doctor, etc. He is one happy camper.[emoji3]

I gotta thank Merc for helping me load in the rain!

I was disappointed that Nine wouldn't adopt me as a son and give me all that loot, so the next best thing was being able to haul it all onto the trailer. His son is very lucky and it's awesome to see machines, etc. like that passing from generation to generation. Hell, you might even see the son posting here one day...God help us!

Wow! Christmas in July!

Now you have space for more projects. You didn't think you were done, did you?

Nine,

How much did that Atlas horizontal mill set you back? There was one for sale in my area, but the thought of hauling it out of the basement it was in up those narrow stairs made my back ache. It came with a cast iron base and must have easily weighed over 700 lbs.

That's pretty cool that you are able to help your son out like that. I hope he really enjoys it

I'm clearing out to really get started. Big thangs happenin so stay tuned.

IDK if I have ever seen the cast iron base, mine has a stamped steel - welded base. It's still heavy. I picked mine up from auction for a few hundred but it needed a gear box and drive joints for the table feed. Unfortunately I just sold it last week, on to the bigger and (hopefully)better things I mentioned earlier.

You can remove the mill from the base and two guys can handle it. We carried mine a ways to load into the guys crosssover vehicle. It would be even easier if you remove the motor but not necessary.

That's pretty cool that you are able to help your son out like that. I hope he really enjoys it

He was very appreciative, though he has no idea of the following for the old Craftsman tools. I told him one condition, he's not to sell them. If he no longer wants them, he has to return them. He assured me that he will be passing them down to his children and would never let them go. He just got married last year and does not even have children yet so that made me feel good inside.

For the moment, Nines has shifted to a new life direction.
... "I'm Batman !" ... [shhhhhh]
It may be a while until he gets back to working on his own projects again.

Had a few minutes to fab up some plier racks and peg board organizers from the wire shelving. Thanks GJ for all the great ideas!

The two pieces on the left show where I cut the wire, third piece is shaped for a plier rack and the one on the right is the scrap.

Variation on a theme...I had a leftover section of wire closet rack that I bent up over the weekend. Thanks for the inspiration!

He popped up in the garage sale thread over the Labor Day weekend. He may be working his way back to us.

I for one know how life can throw things your way that take you out of the loop for a time.

Hope he's doing OK, and gets back to us soon. :)
