Hey fellas, we are gonna start banning folks that continually ignore this rule. Please... Only reply to an ad if you have a pertinent question. No flaming or comments.
So, bad experiences or positive experiences with a seller isn't pertinant to an ad? Should we start a seperate thread in the Free Parking section to air our differences with a seller or a buyer? Curious minds need some direction...
I Think he is enforcing this rule because the comments that pop up from time to time from members who think they are gods gift to tool pricing. I recently had a Snap on Ratchet Lot for sale and some kid with a 2 post history came in and left his mark on the thread as a "LOL". My granddaddy always told me it was easier to come down on price than ask for more money after they sell. I would like some clarification so i dont cause any riffs by backing up a good seller with some favorable comments.
if someone is trying to flog something and a bonafide better deal is to be had, is verbotten?.............dunno man, seems like the buyer beware thing is bs if all pertinent info isn't available...........trashing someone is not needed, but if it's available somewhere else for cheaper, what's the harm?.........
I have to agree there. If someone is way out of whack on pricing and its pointed out and buyers still want to pay then so be it.

The only thing I want to know is if Ryan wants NO commentary of any kind, including positive remarks or banter.
Yup, saw those casters better priced elsewhere when originally offered, but said nuttin....should have I??
The way I see it, the following type of comments would NOT be allowed because they BUMP AN AD FOR NO USEFUL PURPOSE:
"Hey, I love your avatar!"
"Man, I wish they were metric!"
"SK wrenches rule!"
"I can get those for cheaper at Sears"
Probably means like in this thread, http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=63285 which I am guilty of being a part of. However, I was provoked by another member after offering to sell something after seeing the original post. I thought my original "i have this at this price" post was OK.
I'll probably never again post here after this one, too much trouble to take pictures, post them, then get ignored, then attacked by someone else that feels it is their duty to beat me down.
I sell stuff here weekly and have never had any issues, Generally NO INTEREST in your thread means you have your stuff priced too high.
i had not seen this thread until after i did it. well i guess i am in trouble again. That's the problem, it wasn't my thread, Hiball. I only offered a reply to the original poster, and got attacked in the process from someone else who had no reason to comment, other than to be condescending to me.
hmmm. i just commented on what nice stuff someone just had and could not believe how it had not sold yet. so being nice and maybe helping the guy sell his tuff is wrong now?i had not seen this thread until after i did it. well i guess i am in trouble again.

I've always thought most WTB threads were worthless to begin with. Hell, pay attention to what's for sale, and you'll find what you're looking for. Only if it's something to complete a set or an oddball socket or something like they are they ever worth a darn. A lot of times it's someone too damn lazy to just comb the 'for sale' ads.
I don't understand what's so difficult about all of this. If someone has an add for an item, and you don't want it, don't reply. Just pass it by. It's quite simple: if you go in sears and you see a tool that's a bargain, you buy it. If it isn't a deal, do you go an yell at the manager because it's cheaper somewhere else? No. You go where it's cheaper and buy it. If you've spent time posting pictures, that's something you've chosen to do. If someone posts something you may be interested in and they don't have a picture, simply ask them if they can send you a picture.
There's no need to "dog" someone because they don't have the cheapest price or pictures posted. Simply, pass by that add/post and move onto another one. If there's something you are interested and wonder if the person will come down in price, simply ask them, "I'd like to buy this, would you be willing to come down in price?"
But, I keep seeing these more and more "hateful" responses to things on this site. For instance, a fellow went to the "trouble" to post pictures of something he/she wanted to sell. When he/she didn't get a reply, he/she became REALLY pissed off.
"I went to the trouble to take pictures, also. Not even a reply. I figured maybe he would make me an offer. I'll go crawl back in a hole elsewhere, I suppose. I love getting trounced by someone when I start posting on a forum, especially when it isn't even their thread. THANKYOU FOR SETTING ME STRAIGHT, SHERIFF, YOU CAN HAVE YOUR OWN TOWN BACK, EVERYTHING IS CODE 4 NOW.
I don't think there's any reason for someone to get so upset over a site that exists to share information and answer each others questions about cars, tools, ect. Yeah, lots of us are buying or selling tools. But, at the risk of sounding completely cheezy--- why can't we all just get along? For god's sake, I'm sure anger could be redirected to a better cause then bickering with each other. come on, now--- there's plenty of politicians, neighboors, cops, bosses, and clients to get mad at--- we should be a group that trancends beyond all that! cheers, bird
Could someone cancel my membership on this forum. Maybe I don't need to be here. Bunch of freakin' sore asses over something they don't even understand.
Guess maybe I shouldn't have.I pm'd Ryan asking for clarification but haven't received an answer.I only commented because it was listed as a Group Buy,not as an individual selling something.A group buy would indicate a retailer selling not an individual.I simply asked if the OP knew they were available for 1/4 of the price elsewhere.
No banter at all - negative or positive. Only pertinent questions. Im gonna reformat the classifieds next week i think.
