I am quite sure most all staple manufactures give instructions in or on the packaging.

Generally, the shallow staples are for (1) two wire n/m cable and the deep staples can be used for (2) two wire n/m cables, or (1) three, or four wire n/m cable.

Make sure to check the listing in, or on the package.

They are UL listed, so they should be marked as to what size n/m cable and how many.

Did you look closely to see if the actual plastic part has the info stamped directly into it?

I have to believe that is correct because if you drive the nails too hard it will snap the plastic. But, the nails look plenty long enough so could you stack 2 with a cable in each? Probably not the fastest way to staple off your romex.

In pictures of that staple design I've only seen it being use on one cable. I have a container of them and they are only marked with the inch size of the width and no indication that it can be used to hold stacked cables. My understanding is if it doesn't list that more than one cable can be held then the staple is only meant for one cable. Also the plastic is nylon and is near impossible to break.

Wiring new work and remodels, many different inspectors, for 15 years.
Very often stacked 2 cables.

That was up till ten yr ago when I quit, so code may be different now. Marc

I use them where I got to, many places especially in rework don't need long runs of 2 stapled together and its just about as easy,,, maybe not as neat but staple each wire. Where you have to no one would have an issue with 2 under one. If I was doing new or big work would have to consider the stackers, would save a lot of work and potential damage to cables.
