Anyone have a source for buying fasteners? Tractor Supply wants $4.75 per pound!

Depends on your location Fleet Farm and Farm Fleet ( yes, two similar but different stores) have multiple grades.

I prefer per pound hardware over the little blister packs that are way over-priced.
Put a bunch of blister packed hardware on the scale up to a pound and see what the prices add up to.
It'll be way more than the $4.75 price
Per pound price in my area of Idaho is $2.89 :rocker:

I find most of the per pound hardware to be better quality too, washers thicker/etc.
I can buy one size smaller washers for a snugger fit, ie, 1/4" flat washer for 5/16" screw/bolt, and can test fit them too.
I would go broke buying stuff in a 6 count blister pack if I needed 100 pcs. when they don't have a 100 count box.

Also I have found/bought a lot of hardware on Amazon at competitive prices and it usually shows up at my front door within a day.
They list a lot of stuff in 100 count quantities too, odd stuff like T-Nuts or carriage bolt washers.
Yes, carriage bolt washers that I never knew existed before, used to keep the square head from turning in wood...who'd of thunk it.

I bought all of the hardware and bins from a Home Depot that was relocating for $800. There were some gaps that I have filled since then. Tractor Supply being the primary source.

I prefer spending a couple bucks more and buying canada & US-made hardware from McMaster Carr, MSC & Grainger (mainly McMaster). They will tell you the COO.

If there is an Agrisupply near where you live check there for common bolts nuts and washers, up to 1 inch grade 3. Last time i was there I think the price was $4 per pound.

I use K-Surplus in National City for lots of industrial surplus, they also sell fasteners by the pound.

Pell Mell Supply in National City is a good choice when I can't find the threaded goods at K-Surplus.

Marshals Industrial Hardware has been a valuable resource. They are in San Diego, they will give you a nice discount if you buy a box.

That's dirt cheap. I bought some bolts at the NA-PA a while back.
About passed out when they rang me up and ut was over $50 for what I figured was maybe $10 of hardware. Something like ~$3 each for grade 5 3/8" bolts.
Local hardware store had them for .50 each.

Stopped in a NA-PA a couple days ago for rattle can paint. $10-12 for what it normally $4-5 paint.
Ended up buying NA-PA brand "chassis paint". What junk! Was like spraying water colors.

I agree with both points ^^^^^^^
careful buying on price alone. There is a lot of import stuff that may not be what is advertised. I had some socket head cap screws that I snapped the heads off with just a hex key in my hand.

About 20 years ago, An Ace hardware went out of business near me. I got most of the stainless hardware for 10 cents on the dollar. Nobody else wanted it.

If it's up here in Canada TSC (aka Peavey Mart) has the bolts by the pound go on sale every few weeks...usually 25-40% off, that's when to buy and by the pound is a silly good price.

depends on what i am looking for...

Fastenal is usually first stop on my list, local pick up free :)
Bolt Depot for a lot of the smaller odds and ends when ordering quantities (metric hardware for 3d printer)
McMaster-Carr for bulk items
TSC Bought some from here when i am out that way, not one close by me
Lowes/Home Depot when i need one or two and they actually have them
