Tool shopping, 4th of July, vacation, BBQ, beer, don't think it gets much better.

Hey Fox, do the Wrightgrips have any dimensional differences between the satin finish and full polish at all, or do they really only differ in finish? I've only ever used the satin.

Only difference is the finish, dimensional's are identical. No preference at all for me but the fully polished is easier to clean, satin finish has better grip if your hands are covered in oil/grease.

Fox, which finish do you prefer. I'll be getting both sets on the 4th

See above.

Fox? What king of racks are those that you're using for all you wrightgrips?

It'd be awesome if the new website is up.

No pressure Jori. :)

I read through the posts and reached out to Wright Tool to see how they might want to participate this year. Running ideas like this through most companies takes awhile, so it is always good to give them plenty of time to come up with something.

The other piece of the puzzle is that we are nearly finished building our new HJE website. I almost hesitate to bring this up, because it has been a long project that feels like it will never really be over, but hopefully with a little luck and a lot of work, we will have a new website before July 4th with a lot of new features (one of them being that the entire Wright catalog will be integrated into our website).

So, I will keep you guys updated about Wright, and if you have any other ideas, I'm all ears.

Thanks again for wanting to do this again. It really is something special.

Can we sticky this thread? I'm sure it's gonna be popular like in past years. I'm looking forward to it. I think my purchases will be decidedly Wright! :p

Well. I had decided I was done buying tools. Guess I am fighting off a bit of insanity.

Thank you America and our independence for giving me another excuse to buy tools.

I'm in!

Keep posting items you plan to purchase. The old site was never bad, but there are still things I overlook and needed. Seeing items on people's list help that from happening, and gives me new ideas for things I "need"

I spent $1800 on SK day but I might have to jump in on this too for at least a little. I love tools and I really love America!

I was wondering the same thing, the satins open end looks a bit thinner. Trickery of lighting? I love my full polish WG's, been wanting to get a set of metrics for my garage, maybe I'll order some on the 4th.

Might get some Norseman goodness in... Jori, do y'all happen to have any of the screw machine length / stub drill bit sets?

No stubby drill bit sets. But if you want one, I'm sure we can order it in for you.

It'd be awesome if the new website is up.

No pressure Jori. :)

It will be up in some form. Not completed, but a work in progress.

THIS JUST IN...

Wright Tool is making up 160 Combo Wrenches (Satin finish) 9/16 stamped:

Just need to buy $100 worth of Wright and we'll throw in the wrench for free.

More details to come as I hear back from other manufacturer's.

A free wrench in the size I use most? Awesome! Between the #379 set and other Wright things I want, its gonna be mine!

I thought I'd jump in too and get myself something that I have wanted for some time — a few quality wood handled putty knives. They have Hyde which is a very good tool but they are plastic. I tend to keep these in service for decades but they are getting tired (and short). I tend to like the wood handles as I can sand them clean, oil them up and they look like someone cares about them. Most don't give much respect for the lowly putty knife but I use one almost every day. From 1" to a broad knife.

I wrote to HE and they have some wood handle putty knives, old stock made by Hyde in MA. Steve at HE says the Hyde tools they now sell are made in China.

I'm still confused as to which Norseman bits I need. :dunno: So many good choices by them, and at HJE.

Me too. I have a 29pc 118 degree bright finish jobber length set, thinking of getting the "black and gold" sets (1/16-1/2, A-Z, 1-60) in screw machine length for use on the lathe/mill.

I wandered into HJE a year or so ago and left with a set of Wright metric wrenches in the satin finish. It is an 11 piece set 7 thru 19, with the exception of a 16. It came in a nifty Wright wrench roll with all pockets full so I know the 16 was omitted intentionally. Do any of you guys who "wrench" a bit know why a 16 would be left out, is it a odd ball size or something? No biggie, I have a SK 16, just seems odd that it would be the one size left off a set.

I realize this would be better addressed to either Wright, or HJE, but thought some of you might have a opinion on this. The Wrights are damn fine wrenches, by the way.

Probably left out the 16mm because 5/8" is 16mm.

16 mm = 0.6299
5/8" = 0.6250

Thanks doojus, I knew 3/4 and 19mm were pretty close and would not have been surprised to see it omitted, but had not thought about the others.

I've been fortunate enough to be able to participate in Epstein Day since 2013, but I am not at all active member here. However, Epstein Day is my favorite day of the year. Better than my birthday haha.

Sincerely, thank you very, very much Bull, Wright and Harry J Epstein. This means such a giant deal to me as I enjoy supporting American manufacturing any chance I can.

I'm in. This will be the first year I've been financially able so participate. Finally order some SK 1/4 semi-deep sockets (since AAP no longer carries the SAE or the boxed set). Don't know if I need enough Wright to constitute $100 worth, but damned if I won't work on it...:D

I recommend you poke around the website! See government surplus and military surplus for some peculiar things. How about a hand-powered lathe from WWII?

This one has sure snuck up on me. I forgot all about it. And I've placed some orders over the past year, yes. I can't think of a thing! But I'm sure I'll think of a thing or five. Hmm... that 12" pry bar, hard to resist.

Zeke, sorry to hear about Hyde moving to China. I have a USA-made, plastic-handled Hyde I got from HJE a year or two back and the price/quality ratio was super.

Jori, do you think Wright would consider some kind of group buy? I was thinking, if we could get a decent price on the 715, 915, 758, and 958, I would bet that a lot of people would put up some cash for at least one of those sets.

Or would that be too much work/not enough interest/something Wright wouldn't do? Just an idea... feel free to call me an idiot if warranted.

What's a "decent" price? I think HJE a is already very close to any price you'll find online.

Either way I'm in for a set of wrightgrips for sure.
