Greetings,
I have been stalking this website for quite some time now and think its great! I have found tons of great ideas and help on everything from installing my Mr Heater, to heading to Lowes to pick up 21 cabinets at 6:30am the Saturday after Jshillin started the now famous Gladiator Clearance at Lowes thread, thank you BTW!
I built a house about a year ago and have been making upgrades to the garage as time and money allow. My old house had the worlds smallest 3 car garage, and I wasn’t going to make that mistake again, my new one is nearly 1200 sq ft. During the build I had a couple drains put in the floor, roughed in for a heater, put in five 8’ hi output lights, ran speaker and coax cable, and had the builder sheetrock and spray the ceiling. Ironically I already had six Gladiator cabinets from Lowes, so far I put in 10 more, can’t really decide how many more to put in, plus my dad wants everything I don’t use.
The 3X2 block of them I did connect them together and think that worked great, the row on top, I mounted the doors on the bottom, thinking that I like the look of that better. I even took my 10 year old Craftsman tall tool cabinet down to the basement and put a couple in to double as a toolbox, not sure if I’m thrilled with that decision yet, but I like the way it looks better, I also put in 2 only for shoes next to the door, everyone gets a shelf or 2 and you have a place to put shoes other then all over the floor.
Yesterday I fired up the Mr. Heater (got down to -5 Friday night), had a couple beers and finished putting all of the cabinets that I had an obvious home for. I marked the studs and just screwed them to the wall, I wasn’t about to buy the hanger system for what they want for it at Lowe’s, and with a few big screws and washers, they are going no where.
That’s it for now, a new floor and couple neon beer signs are next on the list, but that might be a while, unless of course they go on clearance at Lowes!
