Here is mine so far. 6 hung, but not satisfied how they are hung. I put them on the rails but may change that. I am also going to do like a few others have done and bolt them together to get rid of the gap in between for a cleaner look. I'm going to try to get another 6 together today and get them hung in the other garage.

Not a very good picture, but here it is. I would have liked to get a few more of these, but am happy I got the two. I'm going to try calling corporate to see if I can get my local store to lower the price from 59 to 29.50. We'll see.

Greetings,

I have been stalking this website for quite some time now and think its great! I have found tons of great ideas and help on everything from installing my Mr Heater, to heading to Lowes to pick up 21 cabinets at 6:30am the Saturday after Jshillin started the now famous Gladiator Clearance at Lowes thread, thank you BTW!

I built a house about a year ago and have been making upgrades to the garage as time and money allow. My old house had the worlds smallest 3 car garage, and I wasn’t going to make that mistake again, my new one is nearly 1200 sq ft. During the build I had a couple drains put in the floor, roughed in for a heater, put in five 8’ hi output lights, ran speaker and coax cable, and had the builder sheetrock and spray the ceiling. Ironically I already had six Gladiator cabinets from Lowes, so far I put in 10 more, can’t really decide how many more to put in, plus my dad wants everything I don’t use.

The 3X2 block of them I did connect them together and think that worked great, the row on top, I mounted the doors on the bottom, thinking that I like the look of that better. I even took my 10 year old Craftsman tall tool cabinet down to the basement and put a couple in to double as a toolbox, not sure if I’m thrilled with that decision yet, but I like the way it looks better, I also put in 2 only for shoes next to the door, everyone gets a shelf or 2 and you have a place to put shoes other then all over the floor.

Yesterday I fired up the Mr. Heater (got down to -5 Friday night), had a couple beers and finished putting all of the cabinets that I had an obvious home for. I marked the studs and just screwed them to the wall, I wasn’t about to buy the hanger system for what they want for it at Lowe’s, and with a few big screws and washers, they are going no where.

That’s it for now, a new floor and couple neon beer signs are next on the list, but that might be a while, unless of course they go on clearance at Lowes!

I got my five installed today. For some reason the pic of the two over the welding table look off, but they're at the same height and level.

Looking good everyone!

I also like the idea of the double stack MNChevySS did, that actually looks pretty sharp.

Even though I need a step ladder to get to the top cabinets, at $29 each I figured I rather look at those then the stuff I normally would have had on top of them. I just put the stuff I only need a couple times a years in them and they work great. They help me with my motto "KEEP STUFF OFF THE FLOOR!!!"

Absolutely inspiring photos, MNChevySS and G1K!

I am keeping both of your ideas filed away. My four cabinets are currently doing time in a storage center, as my wife has decided it's time to move. And I certainly won't build them and leave them here! My priority is only some sort on "Man Land" third bay garage space. After selling this house (praying for sooner than later) and buying the next one, I'll be assembling and posting pictures as well!

Keep up the brilliant ideas, everyone!

I also like the double stack idea. I was thining of doing that but wasn't sure as to what it would look like. I think it looks great.

How did you build the fridge shelf? The top looks to have a board facing off the front. I have an idea, but could you give your design out? I have a small fridge and bought some heavy duty wire shelves, but when I got the shelves home, they were considerably smaller than the depth of the fridge, so I have to make something. What you have done looks good and gets it off of the floor.

Hey Kevin54, the fridge stand really wasn’t too tough, I just used my miter box to make the frame out of 2x4’s, I started with a couple of triangles for each side, then I re-enforced it with several support pieces between them. I mounted that on the wall, I put a piece of plywood on top that really helped to make it sturdy, then it was functional but ugly, so while drinking a cold one from my new mounted fridge I had a brainstorm. After building my house I had like 30 pieces of Hardy Board Siding left that I held on to, I painted them a similar color of the gladitator cabinets I already had and that is what I used for trim around the windows, floors, stairs and fridge stand, etc… They cost like $5 for a 8 foot piece, plus I ripped them in half for the trim around the window, so its 16 feet for 5 bucks, I’m pretty happy with it, lots less then buying wood that your just gonna paint anyway.

Ryan, I love your Monarch. What is the size make and model of your shaper? Jay

I will answer for him. It is a 7" Atlas metal shaper. I have two just like it myself. (Yes it is enjoyable watching them run)

BTW: The model is a 7B

Did anyone mount their cabinet onto a Gladiator track? I did so, and there is a gap of about 3/8" between the back of the cabinet and the rail. Plus, only the top rail part is securely seated, and the bottom one seems to be ineffectual.

The manual says to attach another track at the bottom to ensure that the cabinet is level. Well, each track is about 3/4" thick. The distance between the top of the track and the wall is about 1 3/16". How the heck is using another 3/4" rail going to level things out? GRRRRR. In the meantime I installed a 3/4" length of wood and 3 1/8" strips of pegboard.

When I have a chance, I'll use my router to create a better bottom bracket, but honestly, there is no reason for this.

I'm starting to think that some of the components that came in the package were from the wrong set or something. First came the too-narrow side pieces, now the cabinet is too far from the wall? Goodness! I couldn't attach the cabinet directly to the wall or even to french cleats, but I might redo it in the future.

Sure they want you to add another rail at the bottom. At $10/rail that is good money. And the bottom rail would hold nothing.
What I did was buy a piece of 1x4 MDF that was preprimed in the trim section at Lowes. It was a tad over $6 for an 8' piece. I mounted it up as far from the bottom as what the top rail is down from the top of the cabinet. This lets the cabinet set parallel with the wall. But I don't like the gap behind it as it will collect bugs, spiders, and dirt. In the other part of the garage I bolted three cabinets together and mounted them directly to the wall. I had to drill on additional hole in each end cabinet to get my 16" stud spacing. It looks better than the rails I think

Hholmberg got it right, it's an Atlas 7B.

I have one more electrical part to repair and the monarch will once again be making chips.

Well, I already had an extra rail available. The problem I have is that if I did put just a 3/4" rail at the bottom, it wouldn't be level - it would still be slightly forward-slanted.

Once I have a chance, I'll come up with an alternative setup - likely utilizing French cleats. I'm just still annoyed at how even the bracket doesn't line up as it should.
