Oil burner help needed

I changed the filter on my oil burner, and then bled the system. The burner fired up, and after about 15 minutes of running, it shut down and the red reset light came on. I pushed the reset, and the burner started to run, but wouldn't ignite. I then re-bled the line and there was no air. I checked the spark and it is good. I also changed the nozzle and reset the electrodes, thinking that the nozzle was clogged. Still no flame. Then I checked the line from the pump to the nozzle tube, and with the burner running, I am getting no oil out of this supply tube. I am assuming that since I can bleed the pump with it running, and get a good stream of oil, that the pump is working. Is there a screen in the pump that could be clogged? To sum this up, there is oil getting to the pump, but not to the nozzle. If I need to change the pump, how difficult is this to do? I have to have this going by the afternoon, since the wife is getting upset and wants me to call for a service tech. thanks

I took the four screws out of the pump side cover, and found a screen in there. It was perfectly clean. I have good pressure out of the bleeder screw, but nothing on the nozzle tube line. Any suggestions?? thanks

I know on my waste oil heater there is a shut off solenoid at the in line at the burner assembly that has a screen in it. Not sure if yours has the same arrangement or not, but that solenoid could be the problem if it is not opening and allowing oil to feed out to the nozzle...

did you mess with the pump pressure screw when you were bleading it? If I remember correctly from my last unit if the pressure screw is all the way in or out(can't remember which way) no oil would go to the burner. I think it's more of a pressure screw for the return line. Hope this helps, I would find the manual online and look at diagram, could have something plugged.

I spoke to a friend today, and he told me to continue to bleed the unit till it started. It had a air bubble in the pump line that just was being stubborn and it took a lot of bleeding till I got it out. I bled out about a quart of oil before it finally fired up. I have been changing the filters every year for 26 years and never ran into this problem before. Time to switch it over to a two line system, like I did on the other furnace. No more bleeding when you have a return line to the tank.. Thanks for the help  .. Junk..
