Hi Pals
You’ve a great looking house and surrounding area.
Great work with the new barn, and you gotta love a steel window.
I’ve just replaced some windows in a house built in 1906, the cills were rotten but the uprights weren’t, the timber possibly came from your neck of the woods( pun intended)
Looking forward to your progress.

I have that same vacuum cleaner! My father never got rid of anything that still worked and it still does! It has been a fixture of our household since the early 60’s!
Sterling, it was a hand-me-down 1950-something GE canister vacuum that kinda worked. We inherited it from my mother when she moved from New York to Florida. A Kirby Vacuum salesman convinced her she needed a machine that would spray paint, clean floors, cure constipation and so much more. She paid more for that Kirby than the total of my first four cars. The other vacuum was a tin can Mongomery Ward wet or dry shop vacuum. Very few things got stuck in that big hose. We used a Hoover upright for all the carpets in the house.

The roof looks absolutely great and it matches the main building as already guessed.
Even though not looking like from that angle, it levels up with the other part?

New roof tiles look great! Looks to be nicely on track to be closed in before the fall rains come.
Thank you. I’m not worried about closing the building before winter. But a long and dry fall would be perfect. There is still a lot of work I want to get done this year.

Thank you. The leveling up is not so bad. But since the old part is sagging and twisted it depends which angle you see it. But it doesn’t really matter at this stage, as the foundations will be new, and the height and angles adjusted accordingly to align with the new roof.

You mentioned tile for the roof. You wont use metal to match the other structure witha contiguous roofline ?
Sorry, I missed this question. I have three good reasons for choosing tiles. And they will cover the whole structure when I’m finished.
First of all the roof has been covered with tiles before. I found remains from them under the metal roof.
Second there was some 600+ tiles left here from the previous owner. I will need 1000 more, but still a nice head start.
Then of course it looks great and matches the house😊

Mid september, just touching in for a quick update. Although there has been slow progress on the barn the last weeks, I hope to have decent control when it comes to winter preparation. At least regarding the barn. I’ve patched up a temporary seam between the old and new roof that should hold the elements out. Gable wall is ongoing. Doors missing yet. I also need to fill gravel against the foundations. But there is still no frost in sight for the next weeks, so…

Adding this to show the progress from start. I like the difference.

Well done! Looks like you're well prepared for the upcoming season. Just make sure the wind cannot pick that temporary seam.
It looks so nice and sunny in Norway. About two hours further south I switched on the oil heating when indoor temperatures crossed 16centigrade today.

Thanks😊 This summer was for the memory books☀️You just never can count on it. It also can decide to be short, cold and wet. But yes, I think it’s nice here in any kind of weather.
