Does anyone out there have any idea what a used older Champion Air Compressor might be worth? I'm the executor of my fathers estate, and will be selling it off in the estate sale. I have attached some photos.

First question is does it run, can the buyer hear it, does it make any funny sounds, and how long to pump up to tank PSI? That will tell you a lot about the condition of the pump/motor. If it's inline with new specs and you can verify it, it will be worth a lot more. When selling things online a little research and clean up goes a LONG way.

Motor has been replaced. Judging by the size of the machine and the single cap motor it's likely in the 2 to 3 HP range.

Probably worth about $200 if it runs and doesn't make any strange noises. Scrap metal value if it makes bad noises or doesn't run. Not big enough to be sought after and very old. Cannot be used in a commercial setting due to the outdated tank rating. Condition of the inside of the tank is also very important - they can rust out if not drained regularly. It's also too old to have a tank with anti-corrosion interior coating which means there will be rust - the question is how much?

I have'nt figured out how to start it. What appeared to be an on/off swith, does'nt move click or turn. I saw no other way or swithch to turn it on. The cover is missing from what looks like the switch where the plug wire going into, but nothing moves

If you can't get it to come on, I would make sure the power is OFF to it, then see if you can at least turn the pump flywheel by hand. If it's not seized up that's a good sign.

Check the motor plate to see what the HP is...

I'm going to assume it's a 60 gallon / 1.5 HP based on something I found in a quick google search....

Non-running / unknown condition.... $150-$200...
If it was running good and maintenance was known.... $300 ish

As long as the tank isn't rusted out, that in itself has value. The pump IS a champion and usually over-built, and that's got to be American made... The only down side is it's just a 1.5HP setup, meaning low CFM...
