Has anyone been able to emulate the blue crackled look on anything they’ve sprayed? I have a couple boxes that I’d like to eventually respray IF I can dial it in to be dead on, hoping someone has already figured this out but I bet it’s a long shot.

^ Don has good luck with some S-K boxes - dark green - but you need to do it on warm days. Not sure where you find deep dark blue wrinkle paint, though. :headscrat

I've had good success with VHT Wrinkle Plus, but I don't know if their blue would get close enough to 1930's Craftsman blue for you. Photo of black on an old Walker-Turner (Kingston-Conley) motor. Shine is from the camera flash-- it's actually matte in appearance. Good luck with your project.

I seem to recall people talking about using that black VHT paint for texture and then using your color of choice for the topcoat.
I wonder if this would work?

The guy in the VHT "How to" video hits the valve covers with a heat gun but I seem to remember something about putting freshly painted items into a low temp oven at 200° to raise the wrinkle finish.

I wondered about that as well. I haven't tried it, but I would think that the topcoat might fill the "valleys" in the wrinkles and reduce the wrinkle effect. But I'm no paint expert, so dunno. Maybe someone has tried it. In any case, it would be easy to experiment on some scrap material.
