That looks pretty good thanksI've had good success with VHT Wrinkle Plus, but I don't know if their blue would get close enough to 1930's Craftsman blue for you. Photo of black on an old Walker-Turner (Kingston-Conley) motor. Shine is from the camera flash-- it's actually matte in appearance. Good luck with your project.

I wondered about that as well. I haven't tried it, but I would think that the topcoat might fill the "valleys" in the wrinkles and reduce the wrinkle effect. But I'm no paint expert, so dunno. Maybe someone has tried it. In any case, it would be easy to experiment on some scrap material.I seem to recall people talking about using that black VHT paint for texture and then using your color of choice for the topcoat.
I wonder if this would work?
