I took this one last week. It's in Wilmer, a small town off I-45 just south of Dallas.

I'm thinking of buying one nearby. Well not a gas station but a mech. garage. Maybe just for storage! Or hideout! :lol_hitti

What a great thread!! I cant wait until I finish my gas station build to post it on here. I love vintage stations. I have been looking for a old work station for awhile. Not many around. There are some great pics on here. Thanks

Teddy Bear's Truck Stop, Utah - The truck stop was at the end of Skull Valley which led to the entrance of Dugway Proving Grounds Army Base. I was stationed there in the late 1980's and apparently the truc kstop closed down shortly after. I remember they had a bunch of different Elvis stuff there for sale. Never took any pictures of my own, but then again I was only 21 and thought everything lasted forever.

Teddy Bear's was torn down sometime before May 2006 when I moved to Utah, and now its barely even a pile of rubble left. Sad...

This location was on State Route 50 at the corner of Stone Road & Washington Blvd. in Belpre, Ohio. This is one in a series of pictures that were taken in the late 30's. My grandfather sold this location in 1946 and moved back to the garage he opened in 1929, but quit selling gasoline.

This is a picture of my grandfather's Pure Oil station/garage in the 1930's. He started out here in 1929 with Sterling, but switched to Pure a short time later. This was on State Route 50 in Belpre, Ohio until a bypass re-routed 50 around 1935-36. I still own this building and it hasn't really changed much. My new 30x40 garage sits where the little white building is.

These are all great pictures! I love these old gas stations, maybe I can restore an old pump after we are done restoring our old pickup truck. I think it's like a guy's dream to own a cool old gas pump!

This is out east of Cleveland, I don't think it's an actual gas station but rather a reproduction for showing off the guy's collection of stuff.

This one is in New Ulm, MN. I believe it's maintained by the local historical society, which is in the building in the background.

Stuart you are right. Up until about 15 years ago the station in New Ulm was a NAPA store. They built new and the historical society started packing "stuff" in the building and brought the building back to a gas station. The building to the right was the Post Office 100+ years ago and is now the museum.

I've never seen the "station" open to the public, but I may have just been in town on the wrong days. Looks like storage to me.

Bruce. The Pegasus is facing the wrong direction! lol My station was built with it facing left. I think it flipped direction when it when to just "Mobil". I still see the round, right facing Pegasus around here on the "old", still open, owner operated stations.

Here is a well preseved Petrofina Canada Station from possibly the fifties. It still has that trademark circular office intact. Most have been hacked to death or demolished entirely. This one is on the main drag in Woodstock, Ontario, (where I lived in another life).

There's a building almost identical, though not as well kept not far away in Brantford Ontario, I drive by it frequently and always think it would be a cool shop, or at least a cool front to have on a much larger shop.

Awesome thread! Here's one right on Hiway 97 in North Central Oregon.

An old friend of mine has a old Standard Oil station like this one he and I rebuilt that belonged to his Grand Dad that was built back in the late 50's. His Dad inherited it in the early 80's and disassembled it and it was stored until 2002. It went together like an erector set and each piece was numbered. His has all the pumps, lifts, signs, lights, toolboxes and alot of the old stock. It was re-assembled inside a huge pole building. It was steel frame and porcelain enameled steel panels on the outside.

That looks a lot like my Grandpa's 76 station, if I could get my hands on one I'd risk the divorce! There is one in town and I'll get a picture of it but it is still in use as a wrecking yard for GM muscle cars.

Here's a shot of Grandpa from an early 70's news paper article, just wish I had more pictures of the place.

Here's one near my village, in Dalhousie, NB. It was a Petro-Canada when I remember it, hence the canopy and it's been several automotive related business's since then but nothing has worked out. Side note, that old garage in the background is a defunct heavy-equipment contractor who my paternal grandfather worked for for 45 years before retirement.

This is my favorite. It's in Napa Ca close to downtown. It's been lots of different shops over the years. Cool rounded office and steel frames windows.

These pictures are from google maps

Went to Napa for Thanksgiving and this gas station in gone. Nothing but the concrete it used to stand on. Kinda weird there's no real development going on in the area.

I recognize that building. It's actually in Ferris at the corner of 8th and S. Central. My wife grew up in Ferris and her parents still live there.

Tulsa, OK is a short distance from where I live now and the town that I grew up in. I am there a lot and these are just a few of the old gas/service stations that I can remember going from disrepair to restored. Unfortunately I am not old enough to remember any of them in their prime. There are DOZENS more restored gas/service stations through out this part of Oklahoma and many are on national historic registries due to RT66 making a huge footprint through this state and it's "Oil capital" claims to fame. I really wish I had the time to go searching for vintage photos of these buildings.
Tulsa is VERY strict on regulating the historical sites as far as who can buy them and what will be done with them.

This Sinclair station was only a few blocks from the street I grew up on. Now a door and window maker's shop. Decent job on this one and the current companies image is fitting. I do remember it being a auto shop at some point and vacant at some point. This one is on the original RT66 now called 11th street.

These are both Phillips 66 stations in Downtown Tulsa. Mr, Phillips brought a lot of money and Jobs to Tulsa. Pretty sure they worship him up in Bartlesville now.
This one, I believe is located just down the street from the fire station that I first worked at when I came on the job. A pretty good representation of the original. I don't think this it is used for anything by looks. Probably bought by by one of the local high rollers in the area with disposable money, but don't quote me;) The fire station I worked at was built in 1930, and yes, it has a pole. I love Tulsa's historic buildings. I could have pages of photos.

This one unfortunately was bought by AVIS rental car. While a nice resto, I hate what they use it for. Brand new import rental cars out front make me sad.
Vickery_Phillips_66_StationAvis.jpg

And What I believe is Tulsa's latest historical gas/service station resto. This one is located on a major arterial part of RT66 as well. With the "new" hwy 66 bridge going over the Arkansas river in the back ground. Haven't been over there since the resto so I don't know if it is occupied. This pic was obviously taken about a year ago judging by the snow.

This old "Mini" Sinclair station was still open back in the mid to late 60's when I was a preteen.
Probably as early as the 1920, it was pumping gas and filling tires.
On a triangle parcel of land between 134th on Brainard and Carolondet in far south Chicago in a neighborhood call Hegewisch, close to the city limits boundary.
