Old Reznor Heater

Hi all,

Not sure if there's any old timer HVAC guys in here, but I have a Reznor Unit Heater, Model US-75-F Heater for my shop. Input/Hr is 75,000 and Output/Hr is 60,000 BTU. 115v motor & 105 Watts. Serial # is BK6N5799.

I was probably made when natural gas was first disovered

This is all the info off the model plate inside the unit.

Motor died, and I ain't got no heat!

Does anyone know if there's any replacement parts out there for this old bone shaker? I checked rezspec.com, and a few other places, but I didn't see any cross reference to anything.

The motor is a Wagner, 1/40th HP, 1000 rpm, type TM. Other numbers on the motor were FR43T, and R349A2516, 1 phase, 115v, 1.5A.

Any help or advice is really appreciated!

tried 'em and they didn't have anything that would remotely fit. thanks for the reply though...

try to find a motor repair company in your area. they can get you a replacement or fab a mount for a new motor.

I had a repair shop I used to use regulalry. They could find a replacement motor for just about anything. If they couldn't find it, they would build a mount for a newer style motor.

the FR43T is the frame size for the motor, this is what most places look for when sizing replacements.

Chevy driver if you have a Johnstone supply in your area you might just pull the motor and take it to them and see if they can match it up to a newer one .

Call Reznor, they surprisingly have a stash of parts for obsolete units. Also have you tried reznorparts.com? If neither helps, I also recommend finding a local motor shop that could rebuild your existing or fabricate a new motor.

I'll give reznor a call. Also checked reznorparts.com, and they don't even list a US-75. I found tnb.com, and they listed a US75 and it's newer replacement model UDAP. Sent them an email to see if they can help me out. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction...

I have an ancient fan motor from an old heater that I tossed because it needed too much work and parts were unavailable. The motor is built like a tank, solid cast steel frame attached to 3/16 thick steel cage. I plan to use it for a venting fan later, I think it might be explosion proof. It wasn't a Reznor though.

My heat exchanger was cracked and as old as your is, it probably is too. It may just be a lot safer to get a new heater to prevent CO poisoning.

Not a bad idea; unit heaters I understand are allot like traditional furnaces, they have their lifespans. Allot of times screwing around trying to find parts to fit old **** is better spent installing a spanking new unit, or even a slightly used unit found on Craigslist or a scratch and dent from a dealer or distributor.

Real good advice by last two posters. I have replaced many reznors lately due to cracked heat exchangers. Not worth sinking money into a new motor if you don't know the condition of the heat exchanger. Better to go with new...not even used, cause a used one might also have a cracked heat exchanger!
