Older KD torque wrench

I have an older KD torque wrench that has not been used in quite a while. Just recently I had need to use it but could not check the adjustment. There is no model number but there is E-2 etched in the side of the shaft. The handle at the end of the wrench is supposed to be pulled to be able to turn the handle and adjust to whatever setting. I cannot pull the handle out and cannot turn it. I put the head in a vise and tried pulling with no sucess. Is there a way to fix this? Picture below. I posted in Vintage tools due to the age of the wrench. TIA EDIT Actually found a model #2385 10-100m ft lbs.

Is there a chance the end cap comes off to unlock it? One of my screwdrivers at work does that.

Dunno, but my guess would be it might be “between teeth” if it has splines or something. Don’t own one, no real clues. Only use one about 2x per year.

Or decide where it’s currently set is the right value for everything you need to do. I think your choice is better.

I had it set for 100 ft lbs for the wheels on my Silverado. I'll keep it for that but needed to reset for the installation of a new water pump. Had to use my old inch lb wrench (after checking the net for comparison readings.)

Update if anyone is interested. There is a label wrapped around midway on the shaft and I could feel an indentation under the label. I peeled that away and found a hole with what looked like a set screw underneath. Turns out it was not a set screw but I did put some 3 in 1 oil in the hole and let it set so the oil would drain down. The next day the handle relaesed and I could reset the wrench. WHo Knew? Obviously not me.

Do you know you're not supposed to keep a torque wrench at a 'permanent' setting?
Once done with them you should release the torque back down to 10 or less. It has to do with the tension on the springs inside.

Yes I do but I must have not done that in haste in a past use.
