Opinions needed!!!

Hey All,

I recently purchased a home and am looking to get the vibe of my garage up to my standard. When you first enter the garage from the house immediately to your left behind the door for about ten feet in there are a few systems....Home water filtration, AC, pressure regulators, ice machine etc etc and id like to cover it up but still make it accessible. Anyone ran into this before? As the title says im open to opinions! Thank you

Honestly I don't think I would do much. I see a water softener that needs filled at least 1x mo, The ice maker depends on how much you really use it. Regular freezer access daily/weekly. If you put up wall/doors you're always opening and closing when you need to access. You could do a sliding curtain but I don't think you would like that (I wouldn't).

They all generate heat so make sure they can breathe if you decide to close it off.

Maybe some sort of privacy curtain like they have at hospitals/ doctors offices. Simple track at the top, move it when you like, doesn't restrict air flow of the mini split etc.

Curtain is eh, not something as see through or flimsy as mesh but maybe some type of panel with dots/holes/slots to let the ac and heat disperse with some type of door to access but also have it not be such an eye soar

If you seal it off it is going to need ventilation because those are heat generating items. If you seal it up well it will probably require forced ventilation. Is there some specific reason you want them out of site in a garage?

Adding a wall or curtains is just going to consume more space and reduce air flow to the items that need it (mini-split and ice machine).

If aesthetics are the concern go w/ expanded metal or chain link w/ movable panels. Paint what color works.

I was going to suggest louvered closet doors but it will require some framework for the openings.

However, the placement of the mini split kind of ruins that thought. Putting it beside the ice machine wasn't a very smart idea.


Curious about the reason for a full size commercial style ice machine in a residence ??

How is that mini-split receiving air? It appears to be just a couple of inches off the ceiling.

The mini-split is over the water softener/ice machine. That wont work.

Is there any slack in the lines connecting the mini split head unit to the condensing unit outside? Maybe it can be relocated to one side or the other without any major modifications.

I just moved in the previous owner had that ice machine. It is a big overkill IMO. Found some metal privacy panels that will seem to do the trick!
