Opinions on inside insulation protection

I can already see that I need something on the inside of my wood girts to protect the exposed insulation from getting pricked and torn. I will just nail or screw it to the flat inside surface of the 2x4 girts. I'm thinking about only going 6' up from the rat sill. I don't see any benefit to framing up the walls with 2x4 just to make them flush all around as this is a working shop.

I'm open to suggestions about material to use. Dry wall is out, this is not a show place and it is not attached to anything. I'm leaning heavily toward 29 gauge steel roofing material because of the durability, economy, and it's easy to clean. The downside is ridges creating a hindrance from mounting anything flat to the wall.

I know there are ideas out there that I haven't thought of, so let's hear them.

Peg board if it was mine.

I haven't thought of peg board..... It gets awfully humid here and my shop won't be air conditioned in any way. Will high humidity damage it or make it warp?

I see HD has 4' x 8' sheets of it. If it will hold up I would definitely utilize some of it. Maybe 4' of pegboard over 4' of metal panel.

Personally, I don't like pegboard over insulation.
If you do any grinding, torching, or welding, sparks can get in the holes & could easily start a fire. I went with OSB painted semi-gloss white. Steel is nice too, but the ribbed part *****!

Not sure of others experience with pegboard, but mine has been that its VERY flammable, especially with all of the dust/**** that builds up behind it.

Very little else, if anything, is cheaper than drywall. Very safe for sparks, easy to color with your favorite trim, flat. What's not to like about it. Best part i think is it will brighten the entire room over ribbed steel and especially OSB which i find drab as hell.
