Newish product. Supposed to be something like 3 times stronger than blue but same torque for removal. Anybody using it yet?

That description doesn't make sense to me. How can it be 3x stronger than blue AND just as easy to remove? I just assumed it was somewhere between the red and blue types.

It sounds like a good idea nevertheless. I imagine it's easier to be consistent. I've just used less red when I want more strength than blue and still expect to take the fastener off again - but who knows how much holding power I end up with.

But who owns Henkel and ITW?

****--I just sat on my aluminum foil hat....

Reynolds?

I'm not sure what you're getting at. Both appear to be public companies, though the henckels own a lot of henckel...

The names are pretty self explanatory, but you do realize anti-seize is pretty much the polar opposite of thread locker, right?
I know it's the opposite but my brake caliper mounting bolts are still a bear to loosen up.

I'm actually considering getting an extra long 3/8 flex ratchet.

Its always tough to determine if loctite is working as it should....because if the fastener is tightened as it should be, it should stay put without any loctite to begin with. Thread locker is a feel good/insurance thing in 90% of cases.

That said, I have some of the orange stuff that I'll use on occasion for no other reason than it can't hurt in some applications.....and it hasn't lol.

Around here, anyway, there are plenty of applications where the screw is not meant to be tight. One that most will be familiar with is the retaining screw for bib valve gaskets. Loctite is a lifesaver for those.

I use a LOT of Loctite 542 thread sealant/locker around the brewery. We have pressure gauges and thermometers that need to be facing where they're visible, not where they're fully tight. 542 does that nicely.

I should note that, according to my '00s Loctite Adhesives Handbook, torqued fasteners that are treated with thread locker or sealant should be torqued as if lubricated.

Been using the orange on my 650 dual sport thumper for a while. No issues with fasteners backing out or coming loose and the few I’ve had to remove came out without any drama.

Stronger hold but still easy to remove. Sounds good to me.

So, doesn't this make blue obsolete?

I'm trying to think of a scenario where I'd use blue over orange and I can't come up with one.

Do you ever still use blue?
No, the orange is my go to on a regular basis. It is much more vibration resistant while still offering the ease of removal. I have read on Harley forums that the orange holds up a lot better than the blue. The red is fantastic but you have to apply heat to facilitate removal. That is why the orange is a great compromise

When I was still working used blue or red on every single bolt on vibrating asphalt rollers. Otherwise they would beat themselves to pieces. Got called out once on a highway resurfacing job because a vibrating roller quit steering. Found out that the bolts that hold on the hydraulic pump that was the for steering system fell out and pump was hanging down by the hoses
