Seems that promotion is over.Free Orange Thread Locker
I did this "course" a few weeks back and actually got the free orange thread locker. The orange is supposed to have the strength of red with ease of removal of blue. Been using the orange for a while, but have not removed anything with it yet. It's a pretty big container they give you too...www.garagejournal.com
Based on the fact that none of us got any, it was over before it startedSeems that promotion is over.
I'm still using anti-seize for everything. Mainly because I like the bright silver color it adds to the bolts.
Same parent corp, no?Loctite or permatex?

And your hands... and clothes... and the entire shop....I'm still using anti-seize for everything. Mainly because I like the bright silver color it adds to the bolts.
But who owns Henkel and ITW?No, not last I checked.
Henkel vs. ITW
But who owns Henkel and ITW?
****--I just sat on my aluminum foil hat....
Thanks--I wasn't hallucinating! This time....At one time Permatex and Loctite were owned by the same company. This is no longer the case.
I know it's the opposite but my brake caliper mounting bolts are still a bear to loosen up.The names are pretty self explanatory, but you do realize anti-seize is pretty much the polar opposite of thread locker, right?
Just not me then.Based on the fact that none of us got any, it was over before it started
Around here, anyway, there are plenty of applications where the screw is not meant to be tight. One that most will be familiar with is the retaining screw for bib valve gaskets. Loctite is a lifesaver for those. Its always tough to determine if loctite is working as it should....because if the fastener is tightened as it should be, it should stay put without any loctite to begin with. Thread locker is a feel good/insurance thing in 90% of cases.
That said, I have some of the orange stuff that I'll use on occasion for no other reason than it can't hurt in some applications.....and it hasn't lol.
And your jeans, hair, upholstery....I'm still using anti-seize for everything. Mainly because I like the bright silver color it adds to the bolts.
Maybe he uses Loctite anti-sieze.The names are pretty self explanatory, but you do realize anti-seize is pretty much the polar opposite of thread locker, right?

Do you ever still use blue? This has been out for a few years. I have been using it on a regular basis with zero complaints.
No, the orange is my go to on a regular basis. It is much more vibration resistant while still offering the ease of removal. I have read on Harley forums that the orange holds up a lot better than the blue. The red is fantastic but you have to apply heat to facilitate removal. That is why the orange is a great compromiseDo you ever still use blue?
