Sweet, now make you start a build thread in the gallery section once it gets under way.

Congratulations!

+1 on posting pics.

I had a Morton building put up about two years ago and absolutly love everything about it. Everyone I show it to loves it as well.

Suggestion. My wife wanted a porch by the door for the Patio table and to be quite honest that is a great addition. Gives you a place to sit down for a beer when buddy's come over. It also gives you a great place to mellow out and regroup when a project isn't cooperating. It is also great to be out of the rain when fumbling for the keys, and the table is great for putting stuff on when opening the door.

Installing the girts inside the posts instead of on the outside. It frames the inside and outside walls in one step and makes for a stronger building.

Not sure on the girts. Will ask the sales rep. I want a porch, but strapped with cost of building. If you don't mind. How much more was your porch. I thought about going the 72 length.

It is a 10'deep x14' wide porch and it added about $4k to the building. IMHO it was worth every penny. Funny thing was that my wife wanted it and i really didnt care at the time. The inside structure has 2x12s girtsinstead of the normal 2x4 girts by the porch, so it may not be practical to add it later. See over man door in the photo below (taken before concrete)

My wife and I also literally "broke the bank" to pay for ours and I even sold some toys to pay for it. It was worth every penny and after recovering the financial impact, you can start buying new toys for the shop.

Morton building has a 50 year warranty as built. Not sure I would have them modifying the grits from what they typically use. The top of the grits make a great place to run wiring. The fact that it runs between the pole and the insulation make it easy to run the length of the building without looking unsightly.

4K for a 10x14 porch! WOW that is high. I am having a 30x60 ploe building erected and the co. charges $6 per SF for a "drop shed" which is the industry term for what you have. I got the co. to add my little 4x16 drop shed at no charge to make the sale. Did the 4K include the concrete? that is 140 SF at 4K is about $30 per SF. Sounds high.

Dave: Have you signed a contract yet? If not ask for a deal on the drop shed, you never know what they will say. I asked and I was surprised they gave it up so quickly.

I believe that was the total cost difference including concrete.

Morton buildings are pricy, but the attention to detail on everything is amazing.

That sounds like a really good price for a Morton building that large. You can talk to your sales rep about the girts, purlins, and rafters if you want, but we looked at a lot of different building before buying ours, and Morton buildings hold up exceptionally well as built.

I signed papers last night. I looked at Morton, Cleary, FBI, Ragland, wick, Blunier, rodbuilt and stick built. I decided on Morton because of quality and reputation as well as warranty. They were also the cheapest

No country craft. There top of line one. I was surprised. Just priced Morton out of curriosity and even told salesman that when I signed papers. All I have for pics now are the one like mine from there calendar and my snow covered site. Wanted to start the thread and try pics. Will try the offsite or email you. Thank you

County considers patio as part of the s/f. Had to get a variance for the 3024 I got. Might have one wall moved in a little and make a small patio that way

Found out I can get a patio. 18x6 foot with three pillars, soffit and finished ceiling with overhang for 2,000. County considers it separate I found out. Had site shot today. Getting ready for prep work

Sounds good. My patio wasn't considered part of the Square footage either. The eves and overhangs weren't either. A cupola don't count toward height where I'm at either.

6' deep will be nice for the rain. You going to put a couple rocking chairs out there with a table to shoot the breeze over a beer with friends?

35k for a Morton that size is a really good deal, what size and type of door is it going to have? Will it be a single color building or are going two-tone with wainscoting? It seems like overhangs and wainscot adds a lot of expense to a pole building, but well worth it IMO.

Hopefully they stick to their build schedule, when I ordered my Morton last spring it was suppose to be a 4 month wait which turned into 6 months before it got put up. Make sure you get a jacket, hats, and pair of gloves from your salesman before you make your final payment.
