I had LOTS of help today feeding the steers. Leo kept pushing the broom into nothing and getting mad when it hit something. Alyssa was marching around the barn singing "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" and Lily was busy naming all of the cattle. Lots of them are now named Moana, Maui, Hey Hey and Moana's Dad. You'll never guess what movie they've been stuck on for the last month .....
My parents stopped by this afternoon and Dad and Alyssa checked the hay to see if it was dry.
Grandpa - Alyssa see how it's still green on the bottom ? That means it's not dry yet.
Alyssa - Yeah Grandpa, only the top stuff is dry, it's really wettish on the bottom yet.
Grandpa - It doesn't seem like it'll be ready to bale tomorrow does it ?
Alyssa - Grandpa, the top stuff is dry, I just said that. You could bale that tomorrow.
They checked the corn next and Alyssa flat out refused to walk in the taller grass/alfalfa because it tickled her feet too much.
Both these cobs came off some pretty crappy looking stalks. Counting the kernels and doing the math puts the yield a little over 200bu/a if they all look like these two do.
