Oxwall and others from Germany with the finger grip. From left to right: Oxwall Tool Germany British zone, Rayco Germany British Zone, West Germany, Amalite West Germany, Better Homes Tools Co. Germany Drop Forged, Steelcraft MFG. Corp. Germany (probably imported by Speigel Brothers New York). No examples seen of this style before WWII or after re-unification in 1990. So, British Zone was from 1945 to 1949. West Germany 1949 to 1990. Germany 1990 to today. Not sure who made these as all of the companies were importers. Looking at the pivots, not sure they were all made by the same maker. The flush pivot was originally patented by Bernard in the US Aug 7, 1917 (1236138).

These Oxwall needle nose pliers are marked Oxwall Tool Co. Germany British Zone DRGM Forged. Not sure what the DRGM covered other than the jaws are slightly bent.

These Oxwall pliers all have similar designs and handles. The first on uses a through pivot bolt, similar to Utica model 513. It is not marked Oxwall and the Germany would indicate either before WWII or after Reunification in 1990. However, based on the insides of the handles I think these were made just before WWII in 1939. The next pair is marked Oxwall Tool Co. Germany British Zone. Then one simply marked West Germany. Last is a slightly smaller version marked Oxwall Germany using a newer design for the logo. Please note the 1372 cast into the underside of the handles. This same number is on a group I will post soon.

General note. None of the German pliers I have are marked on the insides of the handles until after WWII. All marking are stamps. After WWII they started casting descriptions inside the handles. On Oxwall pliers all these cast marking are above the handles. Other makers used an inset area.

Here are all the rest of the Oxwall pliers I have that were made in Germany. Oxwall Tool Co Germany British Zone Forged, Oxwall Tool Germany cutters 001373 Drop Forged inside handles. The handle pattern matches a later Champion DeArment. The next three all share the same handle grip patter. Note this pattern has a square end towards the pivot end and a rounded end at the other. Oxwall Tool Co Germany British Zone, Oxwall Tool Germany Drop Forged, Oxwall Tool Germany Drop Forged, Oxwall Tool Germany Drop Forged (newer logo). All the handle markings protrude on the inside of the handles. There are a bunch of German pliers that at first look to have the same handle grip pattern but there are two differences. First is the ends of the grip pattern are both rounded and the inside handle markings are inset.

Last group under Oxwall. The first two share the same handle grip design, with one end square and the other rounded. First one is only marked on the inside of the handles with Drop Forged West Germany. The next pair is a Stellar Company, Germany, Drop Forged inside the handle. The last pair are also Stellar but from Japan. Drop Forged. This shows that Stellar was an importer.
