Straightgrain: i'm still looking for my first Plvmb or P & C screwdriver like you found. one day i'll find one in the wild or I might pony up for buying one on Ebay if I can't and one comes up.
the matchbook is pretty cool too and probably would have posted a comment earlier, but the NOS set of P & C's sort of had my attention on the next post.
how many wrenches do you have of P & C and have you posted pictures of your set yet?
ALL: I have a lot of ratchets that could be P & C brand and wondering if they made some without stamping their name or maybe the name was rubbed off with use? i'll post up pictures soon as I get ORGANIZED and have them all in a drawer of one of my blueprint cabinets.

I have some old Proto 235 pliers that look nothing like the other two styles I have seen but a hell of a lot like the ones in the ignition set in post #7 !!

Thank you! I almost pealed the label off until I realized what it was. I paid somewhat less than retail for it - $3 at Goodwill

ALL: I have scraped off a few of those tags thinking they were put on by a thrift shop. are we positive they were original sales price tags from P & C or the store that sold new products?

Yes I am. I picked up a toolbox (P&C) with complete sets of 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" sockets and extensions, ratchets, breakers, etc, complete sets of combo, double box, and double open, plus some 3/4" sockets and an extension, several screwdrivers, P&C hammers (2), and some other odds and ends for $150 on CL. I thought it was a scam at first!

As for being in P&C heaven, I won't disagree. However, I wish I had been paying attention for more than the past couple of years. I can't imagine how many great P&C tools I missed over the years because I knew nothing about P&C. Fortunately, there's still plenty to be found!

Well if the stickers say P&C I think you could safely assume there`re original.

almost everything in this drawer is P & C and I might have another drawer full of stuff to come if I can find the boxes I have them in. to say I like the quality of P & C tools is an understatement. I bet the made a few of their wrenches out of 1/2 inch bar stock.
any questions just ask or here's what I gathered yesterday while I was Organizing.

I have found quite a few of the round beam wrenches but none have been 6pt. Nice find.

I bought a box lot at an auction a couple of weeks ago as I saw a couple of nice compasses in it. I'm always looking for something that would go in a patternmakers box I would like to put together someday. One of them was a P&C 1993 compass. I had never seen one before.

Yeah, the p&c is somewhat abundant down here so I've come to realize. Naturally though as time goes on there is less and less of it.
@ four.cycle:those open gear ratchets are absolutely the best open gear ones I've used. Definitely the go to ratchet for the real dirty work like pulling apart a diff. Just wipe it off and put some ****** oil in the gear and call it good!

^ I have a 3/8" and 1/2" Indestro in that style, and a couple 3/8" and at least one 1/2" Thorsen as well. (Might be more... not sure.)
Thorsen runs smoother than the Indestro.
Both are commonly listed on Ebay. First time I've seen a P&C, though.

Right on that's quite the array! How are the thorsen ones? The p&c show up on there every so often, but you're right in that they're somewhat uncommon. I'd imagine with the connection to P&C that thorsen had the two are most likely very similar though

the open-gear Thorsen ratchet is much smoother than the Indestro.
both use a snap-on dust ring (cover) over the head, unlike that P&C I posted just above. (I don't know P&C, so I don't know if it came with a cover or not.)
from comments here in different threads, the Thorsens are well-liked by those who own and use them.

I've never seen a cover for the P&C and I've never noticed one in the catalog. If it exists, I'd love to know!

Well the cover mystery has been solved! It must be like the guard on a grinder; some keep it on, but most take it off or loose it eventually. Yay overrated safety!

To add to the "P&C is everywhere" thing, I went to the scrap yard yesterday and what do I find? 3 P&C pipe wrenches (10",14",18") with perfect teeth and even the factory paint hidden under the surface rust! Score 1 home team

- P&C 3209 3/8" drive ratchet with gear cover, LOL!
(It's amusing because only a few posts back, I said I had never see one. Yet here was one sitting in my toolbox without my knowledge!)
- P&C 1712-S, 12" adjustable wrench
- P&C 1708-L, 8" adjustable wrench
- P&C 33-5/8 seal driver
- P&C 000P spark plug gauge.
