C-Man box restore, paint question?

Redoing a Craftsman top box that was a bit neglected by the previous owner. I have sanded down the rust and used Rustoleum Rust Reformer as a base coat on those areas. I will scuff the remaining good areas and use a foam roller/brush to apply a top coat to the entire box. Rustoleum is an easy choice based on price and availability but wondered if there is something better that can be applied by roller or brush. Mostly looking for improved durability. Color will be black box with blue drawers. I have Lowes, HD, SW, PPG, & Tactor Supply near by. Thanks for your input.
Here are some pics showing initial condition and after a clean up with Dawn and water. I will add more as I continue.

Hello,

WITHOUT HESITATION I highly recommend Rust-oleum Aerosol Satin Black Rust Stop Enamel. I've been using it alot lately and it is extremely forgiving.

Your prep sounds great, and I would simply hit the bare metal spots with Duplicolor or Rust-oleum self etching Aerosol.primer. The stuff is fantastic, and I can't get it to run. It dries to a very elegant and slight low gloss/eggshell back. You can shoot multiple coats between 2 minute wait periods. I've done 3 to 4 costs on two vises last month. It dries quickly and I've gotten no irregular striping when going back after touching up "holidays".

If you've ever seen a properly restored 1960s black and yellow California License plate (or NOS original) you will have the idea. It's like the finest chassis black, but at 7 bucks a can. Great coverage as well. The one person thought it was powder coated. Spray it,and leave it alone for at least 24 to 48 hours. You can touch it up with a model brush and paint later.

Paint the drawers by hand, but I'd use the Rust-oleum for the main body. It just about sprays itself .

If you like PM me for some handy aerosol tips I got from a guru on here from the Vise world! As a side note,I just noticed Rust-oleum has a new (to my region anyway) Royal Blue aerosol and it's gorgeous .Just like the guys redoing their Record English vises. That and black would be Excellent!

Just my .35 worrh:eek:
Keep us posted , and I'd love pictures! Cheers, Shawn

I'm not sure what color your wanting to do. But I did something t mine and I love it. I had a old car with a color I REALLY liked. I got the color match spray from the parts store and after selling the car I still had a can and a half left. I used the half can to paint the lid of my toolbox as it was really faded and had primer all over it. I have no regrets on doing this to it. I have really contemplated doing the whole box this color or leave it as it is. It makes me smile every time seeing the color shine and makes the toolbox have alot more personality. The color if you wanted to know is GM Dark Ming metallic. It was on my old 06 Chevy Malibu and that color has hints of metal flake and just looks amazing in when the light hits it.
That's a idea if you wanted something different.
