Paint the floor?

I built my garage(26'x38'x10') in 2008 and have fiber in the concrete and sealed the concrete. I also have infloor heat. I was wondering if I clean it very good could I just paint the floor? Or do I have to use a epoxy? I live in central WI. so salt and snow (from vehicles) come into contact with my concrete. What I want to do is just get a better apearance for my floor and easy to clean and not peel or chip from the harse conditions.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Before the epoxies were all the rage, i would paint my shop floor every year or so. The first prep was with floor scrubers and muratic acid. I used 5 gal buckets of the cheapest enamel I could find. $35.00 for a 5. It looked great and I knew I would scrape, spill, have overspray ect... on it. After that I would just roll out another new floor as needed.

i have the same type of flooring with the fiber glass strands in it i use beir solid floor stain

works great and very very easy to touch up.

If you want to paint your garage floor you are still going to have issues with paint chipping if you treat it roughly. It won't peel if you prep it right but it will wear thin in a year or two. Here is an article on the different kinds of garage floor paints that are available.

If you are going to prep your floor for paint, you might want to look into epoxy. Though more expensive, it's much cheaper in the long run.
