Morning everyone! First post here, but have enjoyed using the forum as a reference for some time now. Glad to finally have something to post about
Just picked up the vice in the pics attached: 5" jaw, 9" opening, Parker vise, but I have no idea on model or provenance of this vice. Believe it is a Eclipse 975 with a stationary base, but it has a round 3 bolt pattern on the base, which I have yet to find (save for one random 973 1/2 pic on eBay). Also, the jaws are...normal? Don't have the interesting Parker geometry, which again. Any insight or ideas on this one? The other side of the vise has a small recess like on the Parker side, but it is just blank--nothing there. Apologies, mix of my pics and ones from seller.
Also, jaws were held on with spring pins with 0.28" holes. Anyone seen this before? Not a standard size I can find on McMaster, but saw some discussion on people using taper pins--plan to check if tapered tonight. One was broken when I got it, hence the skewed jaw.
Lastly, of interest to me (maybe alone
) the nut is held in place with a shim (or something like that) rather than a pin. Pulled last night, confirmed no hole for pin.
Thanks!
