Morning everyone! First post here, but have enjoyed using the forum as a reference for some time now. Glad to finally have something to post about :)

Just picked up the vice in the pics attached: 5" jaw, 9" opening, Parker vise, but I have no idea on model or provenance of this vice. Believe it is a Eclipse 975 with a stationary base, but it has a round 3 bolt pattern on the base, which I have yet to find (save for one random 973 1/2 pic on eBay). Also, the jaws are...normal? Don't have the interesting Parker geometry, which again. Any insight or ideas on this one? The other side of the vise has a small recess like on the Parker side, but it is just blank--nothing there. Apologies, mix of my pics and ones from seller.

Also, jaws were held on with spring pins with 0.28" holes. Anyone seen this before? Not a standard size I can find on McMaster, but saw some discussion on people using taper pins--plan to check if tapered tonight. One was broken when I got it, hence the skewed jaw.

Lastly, of interest to me (maybe alone ) the nut is held in place with a shim (or something like that) rather than a pin. Pulled last night, confirmed no hole for pin.

Thanks!

Thanks! Happy with it, nothing majorly wrong, lucked in to finding it; usual thrill of finding old stuff. :) Hopefully the evening crowd knows a thing or two.

Looks like a '57 or newer Parker, after they got bought out by Union. They switched to a modular swivel base like Columbian or wilton

Huh, TIL. Anyone have a model sheet/pics for this era? Glad the jaws have the simplified geometry, at least. Thanks!

Definitely spring pins right now, but who knows if original. Did your pin bores taper or just snug press fit? Good note, thanks!
