Parts Washer Pump

Hello all you in Garage Land. I tried the search function and never have any luck.

Any how I recently got a 30 gallon Harbor freight parts washer. Its the kind that sits on a barrel and the pump hangs on a piece that hangs down in the solvent. The machine was new and I used it only about 45 minutes and the pump quit working. I havent taken it apart yet and maybe I can fix it once I get it apart.
What I was wondering is what is a good replacement pump for this unit? I havwe seen some on line but was wondering about a good one to buy and things to look for in a new one.

HF if you still have your reciept and it isnt that old should warranty the pump. Give there Customer service a call they will probably send you a new pump. There CS people are great they should fix you right up.

The washer was given to me by my brother who picked it up over 5 years ago. He never used it and gave it to me. I was a little sad after it quit mid way through taking apart a rear end for my model A.

What are you using in the parts washer as a degreser.

I bought cleaning solvent from a local Oil company. Perhaps the pump wasnt set up for a petroleum based cleaner?

Even Tho its 5 years old you should still be able to get a new pump from HF customer service. Granted you will have to buy it but HF has improved a lot of there products call them and explain the situation I am sure they can help you out. Never know they might have been getting calls about that pump all along. Its worth a try.

Thanks for the info. The nearest HF is 50 miles away. Will be headed down that way over the weekend and I may stop in and see what they have to say. I saw a pump on Home Depot site that is only about $25 bucks. They also listed a $40 dollar one. Wondering about quality of both. Hard to tell from the pics.

And if they don't know you and/or are like the employees at my local HF, all you get is a blank look and "We don't have any parts here or any way to find them. Mebbe, try an on-line search or call our customer service 800 number."

I've got a several-years-old HF air-over-hydraulic pump and there's no number stamped on it and whatever stick-on label is long gone. They looked at it and said, "The new one is different. Dunno if there's parts. Call customer service."

I wonder if I have the aqueous solvent pump and killed it with my petroleum based solvent I put in it. when looking for a replacement I will make sure I get the right one.
