I run AutoEnginuity on my Macbook Pro with VMWare Fusion. I have a separate VM where I put my scan tool and various manufacturer-specific repair software. I just fire it up when I need it, very convenient.

Anybody run anything on a MAC ?

No, almost everything is PC based. Like the above poster wrote, you can install a virtual machine on your MAC, install windows, then install the software.

Or you can just get a PC, after all, a serial port is VERY necessary for any decent setups.

What sort of cars are you working on? I use Mercedes-Benz WIS and BMW WIS software with a multiplexer (chinese) on my laptop, and scantool.net hardware with my GM software. A computer/laptop with a serial port is required for the BMW and MB multiplexer. No other real options for those two besides the multiplexer.

Why not the autoenginuity with the MB enhanced package? It comes with the obii connector and a 38 pin pigtail to get all the enhanced control signals for those older cars that still have the 38 pin connector in the computer box. Only generic is available from the OBDII connector under the dash on those cars that have both the OBDII connector and the 38 pin connector. So if you want enhanced ME or additional control module communications you need to plug into the 38 pin connector. Apparently STAR Diagnostic doesn't even both with the OBDII under the dash for those recent "older cars", I'm thinking 96 to 2003 here. This is my understanding anyway. They tell me it is a factory level tool for 98 and up. Why mess with a Chinese "multiplexer" if you are in the business? What am I missing?
