If I flipped it, it would just cover the neutral bar, but it is longer ... hmmm.

And yes, the white clip on the top left of main breaker is the retainer. and it looks like it will work either side. That is the factory location for the main too.

Added some new lighting and updated the panel, along with adding a new 15 amp breaker (bottom).

There are 5 fixtures, with each pulling 2 amps for a total of 10 amps. That's only 66% of total available amps, so were good.

Thinking about the following circuits:

  • Four 240v circuits
    • Overhead Heater - 40 amp
    • Air Compressor - 30 amp
    • Plug for welder - 30 amp
    • Hot water heater - 20 amp
  • Two lighting
    • One for two light fixtures
    • One for four light fixtures
  • Three wall plug - one for each wall
  • One Door opener

Just going over the old plan to see how far off I was ...

So far:

  • Four 240v circuits
    • Overhead Heater - 30 amp - done
    • Air Compressor - 30 amp - in work
    • Plug for welder - 40 amp - done
    • Plug for water heater - 30 amp - waiting
  • One for lighting - 15 amp - done
    • One switch for two light fixtures
    • One switch for three light fixtures
  • Five wall plugs - 20 amp, near wall - done.
  • Two wall plugs - 20amp, back wall - waiting
  • Six wall plugs - 20 amp, far wall - done
  • Garage door opener - 15 amp - done

The hold down is installed on the main breaker. I would have flipped the panel so the main was at the bottom to make it easier to wire by minimizing the feeder conductors in the panel.

Agreed. It didn't become an issue till a few breakers were installed. I can't flip the panel, but can flip the breaker pan, and put the main at the bottom, which would open up the grounding lug ... one day.

You might have to flip the pan on the panel front also if the interior is flipped.

Wonder if I could just move the main to the bottom. I'd need to drill a hold down for the lock though. Would be the simplest to do .... hmmmm.

Take a lot longer to drill & tap for the hold down bracket & that would be making mods that I would not be comfortable doing, the interior swap is a lot quicker.
