the house I've submitted an offer has 10' ceiling, I'm looking for the best way to store my "****" with minimum impact on the floor space.

If I get it, most of my money will be spent on finishing the monster basement so the fund will be limited on the garage.

wire shelves would be my last option.

I have 10 foot ceilings in most of my garage except it is a little lower at the front half... Here are a few pics of what works for me:

I have a sturdy shelf at about 7 feet, and then slatwall below that with a bunch of hooks.

And here on the one side of the garage I have another sturdy shelf at about 7 feet... Lots of room under that for some folding tables that I can use when there is only one vehicle in the garage.

And in this corner I have a cabinet on the wall with a shelf over it at about 7 feet as well... I can reach all of these shelves with a small step stool. If I had them any higher then they would be tough to reach but they are okay how they are.

And this tire rack works great to make use of the tall ceiling:

keep in mind, there are a million other ways to do it and some may look better but I am more interested in working on my Buick than building show worthy shelving...

I went with tall wall cabinets. I have bases but you could always do wall cabinets as a base.

I still need my countertops but you can get the idea. My ceilings are around 10' tall.

The cabinets have all the stuff I use quite often down low and the items I seldom use are up higher in the cabinets. I hate looking at clutter so I went with a bunch of cabinets.

Nice shelf, but if you plan on putting some serious weight on that shelf you need some more support where that angled 2x4 connected to the stud in the wall.

I would add a 2' piece of 2x4 attached to the stud, butted up against the bottom of that brace and attached with at least 4 nails/screws at least 3½" long.

Industrial shelving, and covered them, + made another few upper cabinets .
also some space over the garage doors to store tires.
Works pretty good.

XcYZ has a clever solution for storage with his 9'4" walls, especially, if you prefer to hide your stuff behind doors. Most of the pics in his thread have been deleted or moved... but there are a few here and there:

There were some prior GJ threads that had Unistrut with threaded rods.

Unistrut would make a tough skeleton for your upper storage.

Ultimate strong shelving would be pallet racks - - - think huge and capable of storing a motor on a pallet . . . . forklift and BIG shop needed !! :D
