I'm new to tractors and don't know much about them but I figured $300 was a pretty good buy for a running/functional tractor. To boot,it came with a brush hog, 5ft box blade and a finish mower.

Anybody here know anything about these old things?

It uses a continental engine, and is a predecessor to the Massey Ferguson line.

Ferguson and Ford were partners on the 3 point lift system - then Ford kicked him to the curb, stole the idea of the lift. Ferguson sued, but Ford had more money and he won. The 3 point lift was the first one ever made and is the design used even today. I have a 1947 2N Ford.

My cousin near Blanchard Oklahoma had some people break into his house/farm and move in while they were away on a cruise. They stole and sold most of his equipment and furnishings, this tractor looks just like one of the tractors that was stolen/sold. Just joking! LOL!

You stole that one! The box box blade and the bush hog are worth more than $300!!! Ya **** so bad on this one. My dad refers to those as an orchard model...no vertical exhaust stack to get hit buy trees. If you are mowing in tall grass, make sure the exhaust is intact and doesn't have any holes in it. My dad caught a 20 acre field on fire with his. Had a small hole in exhaust and a backfire from the tractor set the tall dry grass on fire.

Wow.... didn't expect this to draw so much attention. I ran the finish mower I got with it yesterday and mows better than my $5000 zero turn. I plan on doing a dull restoration on this this thing as I hope to purchase a 10 to 20 acre plot in the next 5 years to build a house on.

Glad to know where to go if I need any help with this thing.

Thanks again

Nice score! Much better tractor than the N series Fords.
Engine is much more robust, and more powerful, slower reverse in the TO30.
Hate N Series Fords, not so much because they are a bad tractor, but because everyone pays too much for a clapped out one with a halfassed paint job, then screams when it needs an overhaul. Cranks are usually shot, block needs sleeved....people expect you to be able to overhaul one for $250, all in.
The Ford engine wasn't very long lived when new...

I have a 53 naa that has never had the crank out of the block nor has the pistons ever left the home that the assembler placed them in 1953. It doesn't smoke, rattle etc etc oh and we have owned it for the last 45 years and the previous owner was a uncle so I pretty much know the complete history of the tractor. ..

You stole that thing! I've got an old ford 861. Tractors from that era are pretty simple to work on. I've been getting most of my parts online from Yesterday's Tractors. The best thing I ever did to mine was get rid of the points and install a Pertronix ignition. BTW it's good to see another okie on here. I'm not far from you up in Newcastle/Tuttle.

NAA is a completely different engine...actually quite a bit different from the 2-9-8 N series tractors.
