Engine hoist, movers dollies, lifting straps, truck crane. Of course I'm generally in search of vintage machine tools or complete tool boxes.

Small bolt-cutter. "Wonder-bar" prybar. Radio flyer wagon for hauling your tools and loot.

And a camera!! We want to see some pics!

I've done some picking with a couple professionals. Its surprising what can be grabbed with just a 6" adjustable, a pliers, a 6-way screwdriver and a small prybar.

twertsy and i have only been on a tool hunt once before(together) and it was very cool. he has his brands and i got mine.
i'd find stuff i know he wants/needs/likes and hand it to him and visaversa.
i think we have an understanding that if ANYTHING says blackhawk or gerstner it's mine.
if ANYTHING says plomb/proto, bonney, armstrong, S-K, or williams it's his.
anything else? we're gentlemen. we wont get into a bidding war.
IF we find something we both might want a quick round of rock/scissors/paper(best 2 outta 3) should work:lol:

I agree, that still worth getting that Reed 25.

That said, just did a Prentiss that had been laying on ground for two decades. Used white vinegar and submerged it. Did good job fairly quickly of surface rust removal. However, where the sliding bar passes through the lower housing of the static jaw, that was different story.

Its those tight areas that were rusted shut and I had to keep picking/working to score those small passages, before finally got to point that vinegar solution was able to get into interior of the housing and finish the job.

Be patient, but it can reward your efforts.

Reed No. 0 pipe vise, Reed No. 25 bench vise, Wilton vise, and an old grinding stone setup that'll get powdercoated and become desk decor.

That scaffold ratchet is cool, I don't remember seeing one before. I spent years building scaffolds to support stages and used anything that I could get my hands on to put them together. I'm intrigued.

We had a good time, regardless of the outcome. The hopes were dashed as soon as we found the property. Even worse was the fact that the entire surrounding area is huge horse properties with massive outbuildings everywhere. Then we arrived......
