Best wishes on this new venture! This is quite cool. I noticed at least a couple of things from the video at the track:
1) it needs more TIRE...
2) it launches HARD even with too little tire!

Maybe someday I'll have to beg a visit to the BloodShed... I still need to see your "portable" paint booth and now I need to see Zombie222!

I agree about the tire and I am working on it. I should be able to get a 305 or maybe a 315 without having to tub it. However, you saw the car lift the front wheels clear off the ground running 245-45-17 drag streets so we are actually concerned that wider slicks with a good hook up will mean wheelie bars and that isn't cool for a street/track car.

Ohhh.. I haven't finished all of the old ones yet..... But I will share that right after we hooked up the "Big Daddy" 1.5 Megawatt battery pack to the Zombie 222, I was reaching in to wrap some dust off of the controllers and motor mounts with a damp rag when the John (builder and owner of the White Zombie) said in a soft voice, "don't move, just freeze". Of course my first thought is, "where is the F-ing spider now?" But that wasn't the problem. It turns out that my hand was 1 CM from one of the main contactors which was hot with 400V at 4000amps. I think I pee-ed myself a little. I frozen so hard that they could have lifted me and carried me like a manikin. All I could hear in my head was Bill Murray's voice from Ghost Buster says. "OK, Important safety tip...."

Knowing that jugo de diablo lives in the Zombie 222 means that I will likely NEVER EVER wash that car......

I love the picture and yet it represents my fear of my own car. BTW, in my limited Spanish language skills, I believe that jugo de diablo translates to Juice of the Devil. That's my pet name for electricity... I don't have a pet name for spiders because they are just tooooooo horrible to even name.....

The problem is that we need to get 125 mile range on the highway and while capacitors can vomit power quickly, I don't think they will work for range. Turns out in the battery world, there are two kinds of batteries, Power and Energy. Dragsters always look for power which might not have the best weight ratio, but can release insane AMPs fast whereas the Tesla uses energy batteries which have a better ratio, but need a lot of them to gain real power. That's why there are so many in a Tesla as opposed to drag pack like we tested with.

There is a "hang out room" inside the shop that will be a camera-free zone where I can skip till my heart is complete!

BTW, I should post a newer video to show the full 1080P 30FPM because when I bought the full license for the Blue iris software, everything got clearly. might be my imagination, but when the evaluation watermark disappeared I would swear the picture got better.

My friend Joe just bought in a project car. It's a 65 GT fastback which I am told is very rare, but it is a ROUGH car. He is thinking about temporarily going either rat rod or doing something I'm trying to talk him into which is making a Deathrace 2000 Mustang out of it until he is ready to replace a LOT of metal and restore it right. Yes, I want to make it look like it has metal plating all over it. If he doesn't do it, then I will do it on my other Riviera. I can't get this idea out of my head.

We replaced the rear suspension last night I have NEVER NEVER NEVER seen two bolts stuck worse than the two front bolts holding the leaf springs in place. Three batteries drained on my DeWalt saws all, four blades and finally had to break out the plasma torch and sink up the place with the smell of burning rubber from the bushings.

BTW, I am a product of the late 70s and the front tag on this Mustang which has been sitting for decades is do cool, I told him that I had to have it for the shop in exchange for lift access

That 65 2+2 is not particularly rare, partly because people think they are, so they spend $40,000 replacing all the rusty sheetmetal, ending up with a car that is worth $30,000. Lots of 65 2+2's available at $30,000.

Yesterday was a blast out at the Blood Shed. I hosted another Porsche Tech day and the main attraction was the painting of a 911 race car, followed by brake job training, headlight restoration and scratch removal.

I did the headlight restoration and scratch removal and loaned the use of the paint booth to a friend of the guy who owns the race car and needed the work.

Thanks, it is sitting there looking at me asking when do I get batteries again? I never dreamed batteries would be the hardest part of this whole project. That's why I'm doing the crowd funding thing... Spread the word if you think it is cool.

Anyway, here is a new look I am thinking about for the controllers that sit in the "valve cover" positions. What do you think?

My partner, who built and races the White Zombie, tells me that road water or rain is nothing to be worried on the motors about because these motors get used in electric drag boat racing and start out fully submerged. I don;t claim to understand how that works and given my history with electricity, I don't plan to ever test that statement's veracity. Now the controllers and circuit boards are a different matter. So....

We are working on a cover for the circuit board area that will shield the boards and all connections. We are also working on a splash shield for the engine bay, opps, I mean motors bay to prevent road water and grime and ever getting up on the motors. Kind of like BMW does. Beside of damage risk, this will help keep the engine bay and motors looking sweet after the final restoration.

As temping as that is, we are looking at a removable thin metal plate setup and possibly the same thing for the entire underneath when we do top speed runs later this year. This will give us an air box effect like nascar.

I did that already and it lost some of the more subtleties. For example the article has horror toward the end and I don't think the writer is calling my car a horror, but maybe playing off the word zombie. Google translate is great for short simple statements, but has a LONG way to go for real contextual translations.

One of the guys helping me on the Zombie 222 Electric Super Muscle car, brought his all electric Porsche 944 drag race car up from Fl. and I decided to give it a semi-flat black paint job to murder it out at the track since it "murders" so many cars that run against it. I fixed some the fiberglass in the front, shot it and now it looks pretty bad-*** running down the track. It ran 10.6 in the 1/4 mile last night.

Another fine production of the Blood Shed...

I've been following your thread and love the idea for the electric muscle car.

I just saw your request for German translation on the magazine article. Just happens that a friend is visiting us from Stuttgart, Germany and he is a retired mechanical engineer. I had him read the article and he said overall it is positive and says it is interesting concept. They are impressed by the acceleration comparing it to a Porsche GT3 which is not as quick. Mentioned is the upgraded adjustable suspension. Only negatives were cost of completed car, Lack of engine sounds, and some purists would not like the classic car changed from stock.

I posted this under another thread on my electric super muscle car, but I doubt some of you follow it so I am putting it here.

I thought you might want a little update on the testing and track numbers. We ran at the San Antonio Raceway Friday night.

Back ground:

We used a loaner battery pack that was used in the famous (in electric racing circles) Lawless Electric Rocket bike that ran the 1/4 mile in 6.94 seconds at a staggering 201.37 miles per hour world record in 2012. The point is that the pack has seen a lot of wear and tear and isn't as strong as she used to be, but beggars can't be choosers. Also the pack is 1/3 of the capacity of our planned production pack.

We raced two other Mustang cars to clearly illustrate what this car is currently capable of of and why our target performance number are realistic.

First up was a 1967 Mustang Fastback GT390 running a 428CJ built by Dyno Don years ago. That car's best time was 15.2 seconds 1/4 mile. Not even a race.

Second was a 2011 GT500 Shelby that ran 13.1 best time. Beaten by a full second.

Our Zombie 222 best time was 12.1 with a 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. Not bad for a 1/3 pack that is pretty worn out with some flaky cells.

This is a great video from the Zombie 222 when it ran 12.1 against a really built TransAM. The burnout is great and watch how fast the guy gets left behind.

BTW. One run we turned off one whole motor by mistake while we were playing around with settings and ran 14 seconds flat. Still beat the 428CJ on one motor. We also learned that 3.0 gear in the rear is not tall enough so we will be putting in a 2.47 this week and testing that configuration out. I drove the car to Car and Coffee Show here in Austin yesterday and the response was OVERWHELMINGLY positive. The car was the most viewed car there and I didn't get one hater.
