pinch weld jack adapters

Like everyone else my cars have these pinch welds on the side, designed to be used with the scissor jack. Jacking them up from the same point with a floor jack would presumably be a good place to jack up the car, except the pinch weld being damaged.

If you look at how the OEM scissor jacks work, they always have a slot in them to go around the pinch weld, but the jack actually pushes up on the metal beside the pinch weld, not the pinch weld itself. This makes sense.

The internet is full of pinch weld adapters like the ones below. But as far as I can tell, none of them are deep enough to go fully around the pinch weld like the scissor jack. They all lift by the pinch weld itself. And since they have a big wide base on them, it seems like there's even more leverage to bend the pinch weld than there would be just putting the floor jack directly on the bottom of the pinch weld.

What am I missing? Should I buy one of these, and why does nobody seem to make ones that surround the pinch weld like the OEM scissor jacks? And the real question...is the force supposed to be supplied to the bottom of the pinch weld, and while somehow not bending it, or is the force supposed to be applied AROUND the pinch weld, like I though?

I have a hard urethane disc, about the diameter of a hockey puck and twice as high, with a slot in it for this purpose. I don't recall the brand, but I do remember that it was a PITA to find one with a deep enough slot in it; I'm sure it came from Ebay or Amazon.

There's a good thread on here that I was reading when I was wondering the same thing. Had all sorts of contraptions, from steel bar with a slot cut it in, hockey pucks, trees stumps, etc.
I like working with wood, so I made a puck out of oak and cut the slot myself. My jack stands are bridged 2x4s, and at the top I also have a hunk of oak with the groove cut out.
Easy to do if you have a tablesaw or skilsaw.

I made some out of oak to use with my 2 post lift. My 300zx has the pinch weld locations clearly labeled, so I made a set specifically for it. The area to the inside of the pinch weld is lower than the outside so they have sort of a step so it contacts evenly on both sides of the pinch weld. Wasn't that hard to do with some scrap I had laying around.

Do pinch weld adapters for jackstands work OK?

I usually use my Race Ramp cribbing to work under one of my vehicles, and three of the four in my fleet have body-on-frame construction, so jackstands are easy-peasy when I need to have wheels off one of 'em.

But I have some work to do on the brakes of my Lexus RX350, and Toyota's recommended hard point for support is the pinch weld adjacent to front or back wheels. My older jackstands don't have pinch weld cutouts in the post as do a number of newer designs.

Are the many online options for rubbery (thermoplastic elastomer or polyurethane presumably) pinch weld jackstand adapters a workable option?

Yup. I have 2. I've already used them. They work great.

But make sure you don't forget to check they're not stuck magnetically on the pinch weld when you're done.

I also have the HF jack stand pads and they also work great. Similar to what @4xdog posted above.

Similar note, make sure the pads are not stuck to the pinch weld when you're done. I literally didn't notice one of them was stuck under my car for a few days. Surprised it didn't fall off when I was driving.

I didn't realize they were available at HF. I ordered a set months ago for the ex's Odyssey, but the "notch" wasn't wide enough for the pinch weld lifting point.

I have the rubber puck style and found out mine got stuck on my step daughter's Odyssey...after they got back from Pennsylvania. We're in Michigan.

Correct me if Im wrong, but using a 2 post lift doesn't really damage the pinch welds lifting from all 4 corners. This usually happens when you are jacking from only one pinch weld at a time. That is just my experience thus far.
