I bought a set of these a while back to throw into the truck and haven't looked at them since. Yesterday I decided to disassemble a junked John Deere garden tractor and thought I'd see if they were any good. I would up using every size in the set and because it was going to scrap I used an impact wrench for the whole scene. The sockets held up quite well but there were a few nuts and screw heads that the sockets slipped over. Six point Snap-ons to the rescue. Mine are older with no relief. I bought them in the early 70s. So I would say the steel and temper are good but the tolerance is not so much. Too bad they don't have six point where a bit loose is less important.

Their 1/2" drive, six point, deep fractional impact sockets are twenty bucks right now with the coupon. That's a really good deal, in my opinion. If I lived near a store I'd be tempted.

I have several different sets of their 1/2" six point impact sockets, that I use with everything - impact, ratchet or breaker bar.

They are my "go to" half inch sockets. No chrome, no problem. :bounce:
Almost never use 12 point anything, even box end wrenches.

Wish HF sold more 6 point.

Like you I’ve had mine since 1982 with some later 80s early 90s. All 6 pt. I’ve hammered hell out of them on Rustbelt ever since without a single breakage.
Their one vice is thickness which is meaningless in Nearly all cases. In all those years I had one occasion. Where I got foiled by a nearby casting or bolt being too close.
