Got the HF paper today in the mail, I noticed that on all the Pittsburgh hand tools, it now says " Lifetime warranty ". Has it always been that way? I have never seen it advertised. I have a pry bar that I would like to get replaced.

I got some pry bars ( should call them bend bars ) and some cheap screwdrivers that I keep in the house. The safety wire tool I got broke the fist time I used it.

Just FYI... I have never heard anything good about HF prybars, but there is plenty of negative comments about them on the internet. You might consider upgrading to the Craftsmans on sale now through the Club. The Cman pros are even nicer and will likely not break....

I just bought some Pittsburgh wrenches at H.F. Before buying them, I asked a salesclerk about the lifetime warranty. She said that technically you have to bring your receipt in for any exchange, but that in practice, just show up with it. Hopefully I'll never find out, but at that price I shouldn't expect too much...

for weekend warrior as harbor frieght is ok but for me as professional technician and need high quality tools so i dont have to break all tools and replacement it every week.....

but my dad bought wrenches and sockets from H.F. and i break it...... oops....

but best to buy impact socket than chrome because impact are good quality than chrome which it will crack after i use it few times....

Actually, I use HF prybars a lot. Their great for light-duty prying, like tugging on a fuel-line to pull it over so that the clamp lines up with the bolt hole.

The reason I use them is because I left 2 Snappy's in vehicles under the hood. So general engine-bay or a door hinge or something, I'll use an HF prybar.

I've left one HF under the hood of a car (they're all black, easy to miss) and didn't care. A set of three was like forty cents.

If I'm going to be hauling on the bar underneath the vehicle with everything I've got, I'll grab my 3" straight Cornwell or angle-tip 48" Matco bars, thanks.

I have a set of pittsburgh wrenches that are now part of my junkyard/jeep gear. I was helping my nephew with his Honda 750 and broke my 15/16 wrench on his axle. I guess I'm out out of luck w/ HF because I don't have a receipt. But the open end of the wrench just snapped off. Now, I am looking for a replacement set of 13/16-1" or 1 1/4 wrenches.

Those wrenches are decent for the price. I got a full set set 1/4-1" for $9.99 but don't expect them to last forever. They do take a beating but are cheaply made and do break.

If you come across a deal on decent wrenches get them! But, pittsburgh wrenches will work and help out until you get a better set.

I have both sae and metric HF impact sockets and they do the job but I'm keeping my eyes open for deal on a higher quality set. HF gets the job done but they tweek and disappoint a little.

Hahah yeah that safety wire tool definetly *****. One of the few Items I own from HF. I need a replacement bottle jack for a cherry picker, so im going to get that from HF because they ALL come from chi-wan anyway, so the cheaper the better. They have nitrile gloves which I use at the track. Dirt cheap... not as good as the expensive ones but I just tossem when they break

I bought the "Pittsburgh Professional" polished chrome sets (SAE & Metric) for my road tool box and (to my surprise) they are very well made. I have beaten on them with hammers, put on long pipe extensions, and generally have abused these tools in the field. I'm quite satisfied. The chrome still holds up and after five years of hard use, they have yet to let us down.

We also bought their wrench "replacement sets", which include several each of the most popular sizes. They have been very handy because we don't mind taking these wrenches and modifying them (ie, bending, grinding, welding, cutting them) to fit a particular fastener or offset angle. Currently HF doesn't offer this set online anymore, but it' still available at my local HF store.

I have a set of H.F. Pittsburgh 1/2" drive deep metric Impact sockets. The 17 mm, 18 mm, and 19 mm all cracked after only a few uses with a not very powerful impact gun. In fact, the 17 mm broke on the first try with a breaker bar taking wheel lugs off. I have not bothered to use (or crack) the rest of the set.

Some of their stuff is ok some is junk. Quality control is not their strong point- to say the least. Some of their stuff is hard to resist if you are willing to take a gamble- it is just so inexpensive. But in my opinion, it is just not worth it for any frequently used, common sized wrench, socket, or ratchet or screwdriver. The higher quality alternative from Craftsman, Ebay, or even the Stanley made stuff from a big box store is worth a few extra bucks. Especially if you buy it on sale.

I had the same results except with the 21 mm impact socket ... using a 24" Snap On breaker bar to loosen lug nuts, it cracked; took it back to HF store and they told me they needed the receipt; ended up sending it back to HF Corporate Offices and they shipped another socket a month later ...

No problem, Its just so hard to find them for a good price. I use them maybe 2-4 times a month and even the craftsman ones are $$$!:bitchslap
