Plan for future power needs in driveway area

The corner of the house where I park my truck has a 120 volt receptacle within about 40 feet, but no other nearby power. I always need to use a fairly long extension cord if I want to use a shop vacuum, power washer, grinder, etc. I would also like the option of having 240 volt power near that corner so I could use it for a welder, or in the future to run an electric vehicle charger.

Could I just run 6/3 copper to a weatherproof sub-panel mounted on the outside of the house, and then connect it to weatherproof receptacles, or would it make more sense to use an integrated 120/240 box like you find on an RV pedestal? I am assuming I won't ever need more than 50 amps, and for current requirements I don't even need that.

Do the RV panel. EV's use a 14-50. For the welder, you can get an adapter on Amazon/ebay for 14-50 to 6-50.

They also make a 20/30/50 panel if you think you'll ever have an RV with a TT30 plug.

I'd do the 20\30\50 RV panel and change out the 30A-120V outlet for the one fitting your welder. Use an adapter on the RV if it's a 30A RV and plug it into the 50A outlet.
Also, make sure that the wire size is heavy enough to handle a continuous load. An EV charger will need that. I'm not sure 6\3 is quite enough. Alternatively, you can probably lower the charge speed on the EV to 40A instead of 48A and get by with the smaller wire.

I think 6/3 copper and a 50 amp breaker will work fine if I assume I'm not going to draw more than about 40 amps, but it won't be enough if I draw the full 48 amps that some Level 2 chargers are rated for.

However, I think I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, since its more challenging for routing if I have to run larger wiring. I ran 2-2-2-4 AL SER for my sub-panel in the garage, but that was when most of my basement was unfinished.

Get the Siemens TL137US. It's got everything you need + 4 open breaker slots for other stuff.
