Another vote for Channellock. Made in the USA and pretty tough stuff, too. Great value and quality for the money. I have never had a problem with any of my Channellock pliers and I plan on buying more. Best bang for the buck on USA tools. :thumbup:

Channellock are fine, my tekton slip joints get the most use of any pliers i have. Made in the US.

I've never had a problem with my irwin locking pliers which are made in china, but i prefer the pliers sold by milwaukee.

A pair of sliding knipex water pump pliers is less than £20 delivered next day here;

Good bit better than channellock or the others imo, not any more expensive.

My favorites are Proto and Knipex. I have been buying the most of those. But it depends on the specific type of pliers. I primarily use long nose precision pliers so the needle nose they have and the duckbills are great (Proto). But I have a variety of long nose from Knipex that are really unique as well. I also want to get a set of Knipex Cobras but that's another story because I hate that style of Channelock tongue and groove pliers.

I have a couple of Tekton and Channelock pliers as well. They're both ok but not of the caliber of the first two I mentioned. Husky and Kobalt are functional but that is about it for them.

I also have a whole lot of old pliers as well (Utica, Krautter & Bonney). Great stuff from long gone companies. The Proto is still nicer.

The one I want to try out is NWS.

You might also look at the HF Doyle brand pliers from Taiwan. They are excellent quality and value. (not to be confused with the regular Chinese Pittsburg brand).

I'd put them ahead of Channelock but behind SO and Klein.

I don't know if I would go as far as saying the Doyle is better than Channellock. They are good for the price. I bought a few for my service van toolset. No issues at all and have held up well. They have a pretty good rust resistance as well. Mine get wet often. No rust. The crimper linesman needle nose and cutters all look like Klein copies. Like HF sent a bunch of Klein to Taiwan and said make them like this. Only cheaper. I was truly surprised at how well the cutters perform

Channellock or Wilde made Tekton

So are all USA made Tekton pliers made by Wilde? There’s a couple pair of USA made Tekton 8 inch linesman pliers hanging on the rack at Meijer for only $10 and I’m going to grab one if they’re decent quality. I like the smaller size and the 8 inch are no longer listed on the website. Looks like they’re being replaced with 9 1/2 inch.

I have a pair already but the cutters are damaged. Cutting a live 220 will do that. :shocking:

The only linesman pliers shown on Tekton's website currently is a Taiwan-made 9-1/2" pair:

The only linesman pliers shown on Wilde's website currently is the 6360P, which they are calling an 8-inch.

This is a pair of my own G6360P linesman pliers, and they are obviously a little longer than 8 inches:
