man thats cool! wonder if there are any Korp-Klad sockets or ratchets out there some where...
My take...

- I'd like to know from Ole Slewfoot if the WF-23 hinge handle is copper-plated or copper-coated, or if there are any signs of it being copper undercoating and the finish layer is gone (phosphate is particularly soft and susceptible to rubbing off), or if perhaps the actual composition of the tool is Be or BeCu.

- If that's the finish coat, it wouldn't make sense for a hinge handle to have a spark-reducing finish if the sockets didn't, so yes, I would expect there to be sockets with a spark-reducing copper-coated finish, at least, and perhaps other handles to turn them.

- I think we need to be careful about terminology. "KOP-R-KLAD" was a brand name they used specifically for large DBE wrenches and spud wrenches, in the 1941 catalog. There is no documentation showing the "KOP-R-KLAD" name used for any other tools. My hunch for that hinge handle would be a special order version of the WF series by the USAAF.

RagTopTA posted and extension that looks about the same back here

No sight of any other coating, and my hinge handle appears to be otherwise a completely ordinary WF tool. It was coated after final assembly as evidenced by copper on one side of the retainer ball. I have quite a few other Plomb tools with partly missing plating, and none show anywhere near this much copper.

You have a 1/4 set... I am working on putting together that set. Anyone have an extra box , extension or any spare sockets? They have not been easy to find! Very nice start to your collection!

Have a few extras

Shout out to Don for alerting me to this 4XXXX series DOE on the bay. Part number is 42830 7/8" X 15/16" For you of these not up on this series it has not been found in any known catalogs and appeared to be a custom contract wrench. The metal stock is much thicker than a standard DOE of that size. The very large Plomb wrench that was posted over on another thread was apart of this series.

Thanks again Don!IMG_20200516_161053979.jpg

Looking for a Plomb 3061 Pebble Open End.

I mentioned to Roy in a recent email that I needed to get caught up on posting some recent finds. Here is one that I was excited to find. Now trying to figure out how/where to display? Certainly not on the basketball!!

Sweet hat!
Thanks
Holy cow! Did they sponsor a VFW lodge or something? Any backstory on that hat? It's sweet!
Thanks, its an old gas station attendant style hat. The company that made it was around for a long time although I haven't found much online other than old legal proceedings. So far, I've found proceedings for Advertisers Mfg Co of Ripon, Wis that start as early as the 1920's.

Dang. Very nice hat. You better not let Ragz know you have that. I believe that is his great white buffalo. One did appear on the bay about 2ish years ago.

How did you end up with this amazing piece of Plomb nostalgia?

Congrats and and I would wear the **** out of that hat.

Looking for a Plomb 3061 Pebble Open End.

Display it on a mannequin head... that is how most military collectors display helmets! I have known these existed but it has been a while since I have seen one. Glad to see it went to a forum member

Some more Plombs.
A 228 chain nose pliers with pebble grips
A 5297 3/8" socket rail for a early box
5 DDX 3/4" drive sockets. 2 chain links 3 5 bands. This is my first example of the chain links. They were made the same year as the 5 bands. Kind of odd.

Are the chain links earlier than the 5 bands?IMG_20200518_210237609.jpegIMG_20200518_210241271.jpegIMG_20200518_210245876.jpegIMG_20200518_210250415.jpegIMG_20200518_210255161.jpeg

Roy told me about this eBay lot because I’ve been trying to complete a an S-K Chrome Alloy socket set. One of the items that was included was this War Finish 1/4” drive ratchet. I had a 1/4” drive set with some War Finish sockets so this ratchet went into that set.
